I don't know about the faggots, but I listen to metal on a regular basis. Depends on which subgenre you happen to be referring. Hell, I listen to goth metal, '80s metal, '90s metal (but very little; mostly poseur shit), epic metal. Can't stand thrash, death metal, etc.

I saw Alabama Thunderpussy several years ago at King's. And I saw Quiet Riot open for Iron Maiden in the mid-'80s. Whether this meets your criteria of metal is irrelevant--it all rocked, that's for sure.
