i used to use a 24bit sb live soundcard but have yet to get another for my new comp...i was dickin around with the vista audio and researched all the audio enhancements...but unfortunately im lacking in any knowledge when it comes to the audio formats i.e. 16bit cd/dvd quality at 48000 hz vs 24bit studio...obv im just curiouse as im not doing any audio editing. Whats the best quality / performance? or do they not effect load at all

its not going to make any difference. stick with whatever came with your computer. its going to be negligible difference in performance, and you dont have to worry about any driver issues, or another peripheral card sucking power.

I guess not, but THX certified is rare as far as I've seen in cheap computer speakers.

THX certified is kind of like ViiV certified. It's a branding used to hype an otherwise pretty similar product. You don't see THX certification plastered all over the boxes for real hifi systems either.
