http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2962823I thought that the whole story with SC was that their lack of admission standards led to them leaving the ACC. I always wondered how admissions departments felt about athletics departments, and it looks like a big middle finger to the old ball coach.Anyone else every hear of a D-I program with a problem like this? Sure Duke/Stanford can't get the "caliber" of kids that FSU gets, but they recruit accordingly...

Coaches don't give a fuckIf people with Downs Syndrome didn't have limited motor skills, we'd already have All-Americans who majored in coloring
8/6/2007 2:52:08 PM
I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN AS LONG AS SPURRIER IS THERE....HE RUNS COLUMBIA, SC
8/6/2007 2:57:48 PM
he's already pitched a bitch and threatened to leave.
8/6/2007 2:58:36 PM
^^^^The reason USC left I think was they wanted to do something in the admissions of an athlete that the ACC allowed UNC to do but would not allow USC to do. USC left decrying that the conference had two sets of rules depending on where a school was located.Nowhere in the article does it give the reason the two were not accepted by admissions.Expected from a sports website I guess...[Edited on August 6, 2007 at 3:00 PM. 8/6/2007 3:28:56 PM
yea and Southern Cal didnt have a single recruiting violation during their back to back national championships....*cough* reggie bush *cough*
8/6/2007 3:30:11 PM
8/6/2007 3:31:38 PM
^^as far as i know, reggie bush's violations were w/ people giving him money and houses to be his agent, that's not a recruiting violation.it's fucking southern cal, every good player in the country wants to go there.
8/6/2007 3:32:44 PM
And UF had a certifiable retard on the team (Dallas Baker)....I just thought it was funny that a fan of a team that was placed on probation just a few months after they won their only Nat'l Championship called another program shameful.[Edited on August 6, 2007 at 3:34 PM. Reason : x]

While true that South Carolina has been pathetic historically (under .500 overall) Spurrier will get them on the right track, they have a decent chance to win the SEC east with Florida's mass exit and Spurrier's domination of Fulmer, not saying it's going to happen this year, but it's only getting better for them. Also, Duke football (referenced in the "this is scar football article") was decent until some guy named Spurrier left. If you're under 25, all you know about Duke football is that they are terrible. On a side note, no team should poke fun at another for probation, happens everywhere, including the schools in this thread in Clemson, Scar, and *gasp* NCSU
8/6/2007 3:59:37 PM
so to sum it up...NCSU Championships: 11South Carolina Championships:1NCSU Bowl Record: 12-10-1SC Bowl Record: 4-9-0so i really dont see where our football program is worse than South Carolina's.

^NCSU HAS 12 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS???WHEN...IN THE 1800s???
8/6/2007 4:02:58 PM
^11...
8/6/2007 4:06:23 PM
I THOUGHT YOU MEANT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!
8/6/2007 4:44:01 PM
Typical State fans. Living in the past. As of right now, and the RECENT past, South Carolinas is a better program. Hell, if you want to base a programs current program based on the past results, Princeton is one of the best football programs in the nation. And lets put it this way. Lou Holtz and Spurrier would never coach at NCSU. [Edited on August 6, 2007 at 4:52 PM. Reason : /]

We got the Cocks in Columbia next year and in Raleigh the year after that, both times being the first game of the year for both teams, both times on ESPN Thursday NightIt'll be interesting

8/6/2007 5:03:51 PM
lol Flush got owned Royally
8/6/2007 5:04:13 PM
Oh, well didn't know that. Either way, South Carolina is still the better program, they have the better coach, better recruits, and have a much better outlook. And there is no way Holtz would have come back to coach NCSU. The football program is a joke.
8/6/2007 5:06:18 PM
You don't know shit.Don't come back here to Miami either. There are enough fucking retards here as it is.
8/6/2007 5:07:34 PM
I know the NCSU program is a joke. That is pretty hard to argue.I'm already back in Miami. Living in redneckville for one semester was enough for me. And I got accepted into law school here, so its all good. I don't see how you cats can live up there.[Edited on August 6, 2007 at 5:11 PM. Reason : .]
8/6/2007 5:09:47 PM
Its a joke in the sense that many fans consider us to be nationally relevantBut its not a joke compared to most football programs in the country---the last few years of the Amato era nonwithstanding
8/6/2007 5:14:15 PM
^^ Riiiiiiiiiiight.Your definition of a "joke" may be inflated based upon what? Miami I'm guessing? 5 titles in 25 years? Get real. South Carolina has money and heavy boosters. Even much more than Miami. So they got Spurrier. A name. That still doesn't mean shit. They still won't break out and won't surpass NC State. Those are facts, jack.[Edited on August 6, 2007 at 5:17 PM. Reason : :]

8/6/2007 5:17:13 PM
8/6/2007 5:17:17 PM
Ummm, they already have surpassed NCSU. And Spurrier is more than just a name, he is one of the best coaches in college football the past 20 years. I don't see what you are basing NCSU being a better program on. USC has been on the upswing since Spurrier got there, and NCSU has done nothing but go down the shitter. And if you really think that little coach you got is going to make you "nationally" relevant, you need to wake up. Nobody but your fans think you are. Sure, you have some nice little upsets here and there, but NCSU is nothing more than a bottom of the barrel ACC football program. You are the Kentucky of the ACC basically.
8/6/2007 5:18:44 PM
^^ couldn't have said it better. Exactly[Edited on August 6, 2007 at 5:19 PM. Reason : ^^]
8/6/2007 5:18:58 PM
South Carolina went winless in the 1999 season going 0-11. They had a 21 game losing streak until they beat I think Houston in 2000. The last time NC State didn't win a single game was in 1900 when State went 0-4. The last time State won only 1 game was in 1959. The last time State only won 2 games was in 1958.
8/6/2007 5:20:33 PM
What part of "right now USC is the better program" do you not understand.
8/6/2007 5:22:22 PM
USC is the better team right nowNot the better program
8/6/2007 5:23:55 PM
So I guess no one here has pointed out that SC took in more recruits than they were allowed to sign for this seasonand the guys who "weren't eligible" weren't exactly the top recruits, if you catch my drift.
8/6/2007 5:31:51 PM
8/6/2007 5:35:16 PM
So..... because Arizona State has Dennis Erickson... an even more of a proven coach than Spurrier.... then Arizona State is a better football program than Cal? Or Arizona?

here is USC's football schedule last year.
8/6/2007 5:44:02 PM
I like UM football a lot, but how the hell can you call Carter-Finley "a glorified high school stadium"- after spending years going to Miami football games. With a straight face.
8/6/2007 5:46:20 PM
8/6/2007 5:48:53 PM
You can't use one year as a way to determine who has the better recent football program. By that logic Rutgers could claim they have a better program than Alabama, just based on last years results. We could just use the 7 year span that Amato was here from 2000-2006, and since that excludes the 1999 0-11 season, USC isn't hampered.NC State averaged exactly 7 wins the past 7 years, despite the recent dip in performance the past three years.USC averaged 6.86 wins the past 7 years.Bowl record over the past 7 years.- NC State 4-1- USC 3-2So both schools are nearly even the past 7 years, with NC State being slightly better overall.
