That one vote is Steve Spurrier making fun of how ridiculous pre-season rankings are. I mean come on, they're never right. And instead of picking a school like Vanderbilt, or even his own school, he picks Duke because he used to coach there. Every year. Stop being surprised, this is not new information.

^^Tru dat. They definately have more of a lasting effect than the rankings in basketball.
8/3/2007 12:13:35 PM
anyone who says rank doesn't matter in football is clueless.

there shouldn't be an official poll until atleast mid september.
8/3/2007 2:38:03 PM
^i wouldnt mind the preseason polls so much...if we had say...a playoff system
8/3/2007 3:21:02 PM
playoffs ftl.
8/3/2007 3:36:08 PM
playoffs aren't going to happen (despite the majority of people wanting it)....the best we can hope for is a plus one, and preseason polls could still have an adverse effect on that outcome.

They should rank them as first this year. It'd be funny to see how quickly they fall. [Edited on August 3, 2007 at 4:42 PM. Reason : ]

^TCU should run the table in the MWC, meaning they'll have a better record and be ranked higher.
8/3/2007 5:26:07 PM
well they might have a better record...but I mean Wake played in a BCS bowl last year and they've got half the conference getting more votes than them
8/3/2007 5:30:49 PM
hahahaha, they are about to talk about it on PTIa perfect example of how slow sports news is during the summer
