Problem:Hard idle, high RPM rev on startup and before switching gears, before switching gears it will sometimes jump to 3-4k rpms and "slip". Also a pinging noise when hitting the acceleration. Sounds like a BB in a metal tin.so my 94 jeep grand cherokee (I6 4.0L) has been sitting at the mechanic for almost a week...after flushing something? and "troubleshooting" for a week he told me he called the dealer and confirmed that carbon buildup could be the reasonnow he says to clear all that shit out / valve cleaning? it will be $1500 to $1800no way i can pay that right now...does this price seem a bit high?for the jeep people, does this sound familiar? i looked on the internets and found that all the symptoms i have could be either the carbon buildup or the transmission, but i already rebuilt the transmission 2yrs ago

Call the dealership and ask for a quote on how much it would cost for them to partially disassemble and clean the engine. Also, you might want to bring a mechanic down there with you to double-check and see that the guy did something and not just dick around for a week after seafoaming it.

crank position sensor went out on our cherokee years ago and caused a similar problem with the revs.
