I thought I'd done my research, but now I'm second guessing myself. I listed the truck on Craigslist and had about 20 responses in less than 24 hours, so I started to wonder if I had truly priced it correctly.

It's a 1999 Silverado 1500 LT Z71 with 85300 miles...I have some aftermarket stuff but nothing extraordinary: KN Filter, dual exhaust, rhino liner, bed rails, nice floor mats

KBB lists it at $9700 for "good" condition and about $10,400 for "excellent", so I listed it at $10000. When the responses started pouring in I did a little more looking around and found similar trucks going for $13000-$14000.

The truck has been taken care of but definitely has some faults: the tires need to be replaced, the passenger side mirror is cracked, of course there are some dents and scratches, and I'm missing a foglamp lens.

Is there something I'm missing here?

how many of those calls actually offered to buy it right then?

KBB is normally a pretty good guage.

well, i only listed my email, so no calls

a friend had listed a car on there a week ago and received maybe 2 responses, which is why this caught me off guard

a few wanted to buy it right then, a few wanted to see it, one guy wants to pay me to hold it for a week, and one guy gave me a sob story and offered $8000

People always try to get top dollar for their vehicles. Especially if you looked at Autotrader.com. Those are always the worst. You probably have it priced to sell within a couple of weeks whereas those guys are just waiting for a sucker to come along.

i always get tons of responses on CL, but 9 out of 10 are just dreamers/tire kickers so i wouldn't associate response to your asking price being too low. i think you've got it at a fair price. i wouldn't take much if any less though.

you didn't do your research if you didn't check the prices of comparable trucks for sale. check the N&O, autotrader, craigslist, etc like you say you did. if they are going for around 13K, then put yours for sale for the same unless you need to move it asap then keep it where it is.

what kinda cab/bed is it?


assuming extended cab 5.3L, average $10k, high $11K

I bought my '01 two years ago with 120k miles for $8,900, so I wouldn't expect much over $10k for it.

yeah, 5.3L extended

given the stuff wrong with it, like the old tires, i think i'm happy with 10k assuming that autotrader isn't a reliable gauge of what they are going for
