the point is to actually get behind the wheel of a Lotus and drive the pants off of it...http://www-new.ncsu.edu/featured-stories/innovation-discovery/july-2007/driveless-car/index.php

That's not driving the pants off anything...can it even get out of first gear?
7/18/2007 9:34:54 PM
i would imagine it's an automatic..
7/18/2007 9:46:00 PM
you mean they did an automatic conversion?
7/18/2007 9:54:51 PM
yep its automatic. speed limited to 55mph. a few hundred pounds of batteries, sensors, and power supplies...its a beast alright [Edited on July 18, 2007 at 10:53 PM. Reason : fdff]

Lotus did the automatic conversion before delivery, as well as installing electric power steering.

I think it's kinda funny that a car that is known for driver involvement has removed the driver. Gay.

I was on that team, had to quit because I couldn't make the time around work
7/19/2007 12:38:41 AM
I've seen that thing. Despite the irony of taking the driver out of one of the great driver's cars, it's kinda cool...

one of my friends is on the team. They're taking it to vir next week.

I work at merchant's tire. I support myself 100% financially so every minute I can be at work helps. Today is my day off and I think i'm actually about to get ready to go in for 8 hours. I have student loans but I wasn't able to fully defer payment, I have to pay interest while i'm in school. Situation sucks, I really wanted to work on that bad boy.
7/19/2007 1:24:22 PM
i think you mention working at merchants in every thread you post in
7/19/2007 6:36:09 PM
Actually i've mentioned it like 4 or 5 times so you can take your snide comments elsewhere. He asked where I work. The only time I mention where I work is when people either ask or are looking for a place to get work done. Grow the hell up, this is the internet.

Eh, I would rather have a Lotus representing NCSU than some beater
7/19/2007 10:48:00 PM
It helps that the Lotus was donated too. Who in their right mind turns down a free Lotus?
7/19/2007 11:31:16 PM
so NCSU is entering the DARPA challenge. interesting.
7/19/2007 11:34:31 PM
what makes it interesting - we have a pretty consistent history of entering
