Was it terribly hard?I have taken a seminar and also have been studying for about 4 weeks but I'm stressing because I don't get my job back if I don't pass it.Give me some advice.

yes i took it last falli studied for about an hour every night for about 6-8 weeks. i did that because i hadnt been in school in over 2 years and needed some major brushing up on things. the math was pretty easy.the reading was super easy.the essay was completely irrelevant to anything having to do with learning (like the practice books said they would) and was kind of tough.the sentence structure/grammar/vocab was also tough because you only have 30 minutes to do the whole thing. i passed all three sections on my first try though. PM me if you want some more details.good luck!!OH and bring for reals number 2 pencils. they dont like the mechanical pencils.[Edited on July 16, 2007 at 9:53 PM. Reason : edit]

Praxis 1? Yes. If you did well on your SAT in high school, you'll do well on this test. I did not study for it at all and passed with flying colors. I'm an English person, so the math section was a little stressful because it's all just using your noggin', but I actually did better on the math section than the verbals.Praxis 2? No. I haven't taken my subject test because I did not end up teaching. I'm considering taking it so that I'll have my license secure after my 3 year provisional license, but I'm not sure how I will do on it because I haven't been in the classroom in a year and a half. I keep hearing horror stories about people who do not pass (I had a teacher in HS who couldn't pass and ended up leaving his job because of it.), but I would imagine that if you did well in your program that you'll do well on the test.

The lady at the seminar said that I'd pass my Praxis 2 with no problem just judging from how I did on the practice tests with her....but then I looked at the pratice exam she gave us and she has a TON of those questions with a statement and then 4 choices and then answers like:A. IB. I & IIC. I, II, & IIIAre there a ton of those on the test? I suck at those
7/16/2007 10:18:57 PM
i absolutely detest those type of questions
7/16/2007 10:20:19 PM
haha de-test.oh the humor.

If you can't pass the Praxis without even trying, I don't want you teaching my children.
7/16/2007 10:29:04 PM
I thought praxis blew up due to massive overmining.
7/16/2007 10:29:25 PM
I just got my results from the Praxis II back...i got 199 out of 200 on the general science content knowledge test.

For newer teachers (05 or 06 grads, etc) you no longer *have* to take the Praxis 2. You have 3 options for getting your full license after your 3 year provisional license: Praxis 2, demonstrating that you can positively impact student performance which is determined by each individual school system, or something specific (I think portfolio) that was created awhile back for military personal entering the classroom to get their licenses, but I cannot remember the specific name.

I still had to take it even though I got 1400+ on my SAT. It may have had to do with the fact that I was English Ed and not a straight up Ed major, but passing the Praxis 1 was part of my requirements for being accepted as a candidate for student teaching.

^That sucks.
7/16/2007 10:40:15 PM
this year they changed it that if you had higher than like an 1100 on the SAT you don't have to take the Praxis I anymore....[Edited on July 16, 2007 at 10:41 PM. Reason : ^ beat me to it]

I'm taking the Praxis II...

I bet I could pass that test without studying... those questions aren't that bad.Although I can see how the typical person would have trouble with it.
7/17/2007 12:51:18 AM
i didn't pass the first time, but then again I was a little stressed out when I took it because of family issues. The second time I took it, I scored a 368(out of 400) with a perfect score on the pedagogy
7/17/2007 4:46:20 AM
^^The questions are not that bad until you get into the questions about the organizations associated with FACS...and the consumer math is difficult for me although I breezed through it during the seminar. The Ed Psych questions are hard as well....as is the Apparel and Housing.I know I'm just wigging myself out.

ok i'm an idiot, i failed to read the part where you said you're taking PRAXIS II.good luck!!! [Edited on July 17, 2007 at 8:13 AM. Reason : edit]

my fiancee passed it with little studying. so did a friend of mine. seems that if you're relatively smart and study a bit you'll be fine.
7/17/2007 9:19:30 AM
I passed it and didn't really study. I looked through a manual and spent perhaps an hour preparing.it was cake and the essay topic was stupid
7/17/2007 9:33:53 AM
if Praxis had not exploded, there would be no peace with the Klingons
7/17/2007 9:35:59 AM
I took the Praxis 2 for science a few weeks ago and passed it with no problem. I studied a little bit by thumbing through some science textbooks, but that's about it.
