i think ford usually uses a yellow wire for the accesory, assuming you have the factory stereo
7/13/2007 10:44:31 PM
This is how it is in my Mitsu:Red is accessory leadYellow is +12V all the timeWhite wire is front left speaker, i thinkSolid blue line is power antenna (or remote turn on if you dont have a power antenna)Blue/White is remote turn on for an ampI think it should be universal for other cars, but I could be wrong.Question is: do you have a wiring harness for your car?[Edited on July 14, 2007 at 12:00 AM. run the remote to any switched power source, doesn't have to be anywhere near the radio. I ran mine to the fuse box.

one of the blue wires is power antenna the other is the remote. if the amp is on you have it setup correctly sounds like the amp maybe toast
7/14/2007 6:50:55 PM
the amp has barely been used. so i highly doubt it was overran and burnt out. unless amps have a shelf life that we dont know about.
7/14/2007 7:24:51 PM
maybe something happened during the installation that fubared it. i have a 300w Rockford sitting in my closet that does the same shit.
7/14/2007 8:11:13 PM
all you have to do is connect wires to it while it's on and fuck up... I blew an amp like that once.
7/14/2007 8:53:30 PM
7/14/2007 10:38:18 PM
well yeah i know about screwing it up during install and stuff...but it seems like 9one9 can handle to disconnect an amp and reconnect it.we'll see though. just gotta find another amp to test.
7/15/2007 1:08:27 AM
yeah i def didnt fubar it hooking or unhooking itim beat so ima prolly stop by tomorrow or somethin BAONEST
7/15/2007 7:59:18 PM
i just wanted to say hey to jeff...aint seen him post much now a days...sup jeff
7/15/2007 8:02:52 PM
i mean if it doesnt come on properly when you hook it straight - to ground, + to positive battery and remote turn on to + battery then it's fucked
7/15/2007 8:23:14 PM
that's not always trueif I can take a look at it I may be able to help youotherwise try to make sure none of your wires have shortsdo you have a multimeter? that would help immensleyare all your fuses ok?
7/16/2007 7:46:22 AM
problem solved...
7/17/2007 11:25:55 PM
and?
7/18/2007 9:23:46 AM
bad ground.twas easy to see it in person rather than online.niggerigging wires FTW
7/18/2007 9:35:23 AM
ahhh, like i said earlier. ha
7/18/2007 10:20:16 AM
well the fuse was also shot, but after replacing the fuse, the ground used wasnt so great. went strait to the - of the batt.
7/18/2007 12:44:37 PM
yea, saying "check all the wiring" is pretty fucking obvious and not much help. What I said to do would have actually verified the amp was working and it was a wiring problem and made it easier to go from there
7/18/2007 1:03:08 PM
the system was originally hooked up in a miata. so the power wire was really short because the sub and the battery were/are in the back. i didnt think i had enough extra red power wire for him to run the system in the current truck, ford explorer, so i just said use the red power wire as a ground because 95% of the time you just run it to the chassis so its very short.i had tons of ground wire so i told him to just use the ground (brown wire) as the power, but to make sure that he knows the difference and that if anyone else is messing with it to also know that they are switched.well confusion struck and thats where the wires were messed up. but it turned out i had just enough red power wire to run to the battery. so we just hooked it up like a normal person would.the system was hooked up like anyone else would have hooked it up, just that the wires were switched cuz our laziness and cheapness to attempt to make them the right color
