one of the biz dev guys at work used to be a navy seal who trained dolphins to carry recon devices and guns. those stories tripped me out. as far as i can tell he wasn't pulling my leg.

this is exactly why I thought ^^ would be a dumb idea.....It wouldn't be that hard to catch/kill these animals.

^^ the Navy's dolphin program has been going on at least since the late 40s and is probably further along than most people realize.[Edited on July 13, 2007 at 4:27 PM. Reason : .]

i dont know if the dolphins were trained to "carry guns" as much as they were trained to find underwater mines before they blew up our ships]

^^ Not necessarialy. I'm not saying he wasn't, but once you get in a SOF unit, you not going to spend all your time as a trigger puller. I don't know how the Navy works, but SF and ODD guys in the Army rotate jobs on a regular basis.Anyway, here is the Navy's link to their Marine Mammal program. I'm sure if they're admitting to this there is more they're not releasing. Where is chembob on this?http://www.spawar.navy.mil/sandiego/technology/mammals/[Edited on July 13, 2007 at 4:51 PM. Reason : V that is just sloppy reporting]

Not too long ago I read about DARPA working to embed microchips into moths so that they could spy on enemies and relay video and information to the US.

^^i think you're just equating "spying" with surveillance when in a broader sense its a way to stealthily acquire information, even if the information is just the detection of chemicals or mines^yeah there is a thread about that somewhere on TWW[Edited on July 13, 2007 at 5:45 PM. Reason : .]

^ Hahaha... Oh my... Hahahahhahaha... I just yeah... I think you know what's up. I just. He didn't seriously post "You should have known he was bullshitting you right there. He needs to pick one or the other." in response to "navy seal who trained dolphins" I hope. I hope that was sarcasm...
