want
7/13/2007 2:55:16 PM
do not want(to see the bill for this)

Your speed is only as fast as your weakest link, so while Im sure that is nice, its an awful waste of money being that not much out there is gonna be able to keep up with it. I'll hand it to sweden though, they do have quite a nice system setup there overall.

so you have a 40 Gbps linkwhat the fuck do you plug into your computerthe best you can do with ethernet is 1 Gbps
7/13/2007 3:02:19 PM
saw this earlier this morning, mess is crazy
7/13/2007 3:15:47 PM
I'm gonna go with fiber optics on this one rather than ethernet
7/13/2007 3:21:00 PM
ethernet and fiber optics are not mutually exclusive.10, 100, 1000, and 10G are all spec'd for fiber.

So, I guess this is cool. Seems alot like having an 800 ft long driveway with no speed limit, feeding directly into the same old shitty 45 mph highway that the rest of us use.

i could use 10gbps... but couldn't imagine going over that i'd have netflix in my home in a few weeks!
7/14/2007 10:54:30 PM
Dang. The unc network has up to 10Gbps, mostly 1Gbps. Although i never see higher than 40 Mbps on campus. That's 40 mbps compared to 40,000 mbps (40gbps)!!! Hard to even imagine.
7/15/2007 8:15:38 AM
i had some fast internets when i lived in sweden, and it was really cheap, too.
7/15/2007 10:17:23 AM
^ you should have brought some back here!!!

.se is fast enough in .sebut IIRC .se -> .us or pretty much anywhere else is bottlenecked like crazy[Edited on July 15, 2007 at 2:32 PM. Reason : .]
