I bought new ink cartridges for my printer (HP DeskJet 842c) today (15 black and 78 color) but my printer won't recognize the color cartridge so it won't print anything. I took the old cartridges to be recycled so I can't put the old color one back in. Any ideas as to why my printer won't recognize it? Will the store take back the ink cartridges even though I have already opened them? Thanks!

Make sure you're installing them correctly and that you aren't missing a step that allows the printer to recognize the new ink. Also, double check you have the correct ink. I'm 99.999% sure that you can't returned open ink unless the cartridges themselves are physically damaged or are not operating as they should.

Luckily they let me return them, no questions asked. As long as I had the packaging. I would have been so mad if I couldn't, ink is sooo expensive!
