(Posted this on Pack Pride, but also wanted to see if there was any interest in this here)I've had this in the back of my mind for a while now, but wanted to gauge interest in this with other Pack fans. Particularly those who are into collecting NC State memorabilia.I've been able to collect various out of print NC State items (primarily through Ebay) for the past 10 years or so. Some of the stuff I've been able to get, is on very outdated media (LP's: 45's and 33's and cassette tapes). I have been wanting to get these converted to digital format for a couple of years now. I figured this would allow me to listen to CD's in my car or on my Ipod. I also figured it would be a good way to share some really cool (and sometimes very uncool stuff) with other Pack fans. The LP's I have:Pack Power - "All the exciting play-by-play action, highlights and interviews of North Carolina State's 1973-1974 N.C.A.A. Championship Season. Narrated by Wally Ausley. Voice of the Wolfpack"Wolfpack Tracks - Featuring Jim Valvano, Wally Ausley (w/ play-by-play highlights), Sage, NCSU Band (w/ fight song and Red & White). This is a great album that Jimmy V narrates. Complete with various songs about the Wolfpack. Really, Really Cheesy Songs.WRAL Wolfpack Song - From the '83 Season.Road To Albuquerque - From the '83 Season by Wayne Hayes. The Mighty Wolfpack - Napa Auto Parts Nashville Music Salute. Track listing: Side A Football: Yonder Comes A Tarheel, Ode To Coach Kiffen, Referee, I Didn't Do It, Move Over Opponents, Monte, Is That You?. Side B Basketball: Where Were You Lookin', Ode To Coach Valvano, A Slam Dunk Everywhere, North Carolina, You're Almost Like Heaven, The Wolfpack Den.Where The Winds Of Dixie Softly Blow - Sounds of North Carolina State University. Side 1: Spoken Introduction (Chancellor John T. Caldwell), Seaboard Passenger Train "Seeing Nellie Home" (Varsity Men's Glee Club), Textile Looms "Jalousie (Symphonic Band), Pershing Rifles Drill Team Selections From "Carousel" (University Choir), Pulstar Nuclear Facility "Alma Mater" (Varsity Men's Glee Club). Side 2: "Gaudeamus Igitur" (Carillon) Floating Block-State Routine (Marching Band), Fight Song (Marching Band) Fight Song (Concert Arrangement by Varsity Men's Glee Club), Pulp & Paper Technology Machines "Second Movement, Tschaikowsky's Symphony No. 5" (Symphony Ochestra), Natatorium & Randleigh Farm "Scotland The Brave" (Pipes & Drums, Brass Band), Coliseum Cheering Sounds "Red & White From State," "I Wanna Go Back" (Varsity Men's Glee Club), Computer Center Sounds - Spoken Conclusion - Seabord Passenger Train). This LP basically has a unique sound from a different department on campus, which then flows into a song sung by some group on campus (or the marching band, or the crowd at a game chanting).Cassette Tape:Valvano: They Gave Me A Lifetime Contract And Then They Declared Me Dead - This is Jimmy V's response to "Personal Fouls". The narrator on the tape is Jimmy V. Awesome listen. I don't believe this is particularly rare. You can find the audiotape on ebay and half.com pretty regularly. I would recommend this to anyone curious about V's side of the story after the whole basketball "scandal"._________________________________________________In order to start converting, I'll need to buy some hardware for my computer so I can plug audio components directly into the PC and record. Then I can change the format to .mp3 which can easily be put on a CD or onto an MP3 player. I will also need to find a record player with the appropriate audio inputs/outputs as well as a tape deck (if anyone has this in the Charlotte area and would be willing to loan it out, that would be great). Once onto CD's, I figure if there was enough interest, we could start a vine to get the stuff circulated (I would mail the CD's to the next person on the list, and they would mail to the next person on the list, and so on). This way there is no money exchanging hands since this is not the intent. If someone, does not have the capability to burn CD's, they could send blank CD's and an self-addressed stamped envelope and we could get them to the person that way). The overall goal being to share this with as many Pack fans as possible._________________________________________________Also, while on the topic of NC State memorabilia, I was thinking about various out of print posters, newspapers, and magazines. Particularly, the Jimmy V "Tradition Continues" Nike poster put out in the late 80's. I know several posters on this site have the poster. One mentions a while back (forget who it was) the idea of scanning the poster. Which brings me to the question, is there someone on here that has it and would be willing to run a high quality scan of it? Also, is there anyplace with a large high quality scanner? I would think NC State would have something like this. The person with the scan would send a large .jpg or .pdf file of the image to others so they could reprint it, use as desktop wallpaper, etc.Or should anyone want to part with their Tradition Continues poster, I would offer $300 along with anything I have duplicates of for one (Valvano audiotapes, Coca-Cola unopened NC State trading cards box, Last Program From Reynolds, First RBC Program, 1974 Pack Power LP, and several other things).Nike is also reprinting old posters, so I would encourage anyone to send an email to idea.submissions@nike.com to encourage them to reprint the late '80s Jim Valvano "The Tradition Continues" poster. I've also written The Jimmy V Foundation and encouraged them to add it to their "Marketplace" link to encourage donations. Since Nike and The V Foundation partner together, seems like an easy thing to have Nike reprint to add to the marketplace. Nike is already reprinting a lot of their past popular posters.________________________________________________So again, wanted to check the interest in starting something like this. First, to make sure conversions haven't already been made of a lot of this stuff (don't need to duplicate effort), but also to check the interest in it.

problem 1:Copyright violations abound.Just because they're out of print doesn't mean that copyright laws arent still applicable.I'd be very careful about all of this.

^ as far as copy rights are concerned if he copies them for himself, there is no violation right? only if he were to sell them....

even if he copies it for himself he could get in troublethat was a really big grey area that got clamped down on with the DMCAI mean honestly, I admire the idea, but the application of it is enough to give anybody nightmares

I don't think there is any trouble in copying it for myself. I purchased the original, the format got old, so I upgraded it to a more current format. Not to mention I would imagine few of the companies that made the records are still around. If they were, I think the probability of pursuing me for copying and sharing something that no longer exists and they can no longer make profit on is unlikely.
