whose career was ended/shortened by injury.Think mine would be Robert Edwards. He was amazing the first year he started, convinced he would have won a Heisman if he had stayed healthy in college, and then he totally blew his knee out in the pros... think hes still playing up in Canada some but damn he was good when healthy.

David Thompson?
7/2/2007 4:05:04 PM
Koren Robinsonif by injury you mean boozed up all the time
7/2/2007 4:07:18 PM
Grant Hill
7/2/2007 4:09:11 PM
^^^ are you asking? in that case, no, because I never saw him in person, and his career was just as much shortened by coke as it was by injuries (unless you count falling at a club while coked out as just an injury)^ good one[Edited on July 2, 2007 at 4:09 PM. Reason : d]
7/2/2007 4:09:30 PM
Cal Ripken Jr.
7/2/2007 4:11:27 PM
oops never saw Bo "in person"I'll go with Randolph Childress:[Edited on July 2, 2007 at 4:16 PM. Reason : .]
7/2/2007 4:15:21 PM
I'm asking for general opinion of David Thompson counting in this, because I have seen him in person(which is also a weird condition to put onto this list IMO).He was sidelined as much by injuries as substance abuse. And the stairs at Studio 54 or whatever was an injury, just not sports related.
7/2/2007 4:15:34 PM
are you not really 22?
7/2/2007 4:17:09 PM
Seeing a 50 year old DT doesn't count, even if I was impressed when he dunked the ball from standing flat footed in a suit and dress shoes at halftime one game.
7/2/2007 4:20:52 PM
^^^ you saw him play in 1985 and remember it?and the in person was so that people wouldnt just put the well known ones, like Bo etc... I meant more like people you saw in person who blew you away but never really got famous because of the injury[Edited on July 2, 2007 at 4:21 PM. Reason : f]
7/2/2007 4:21:01 PM
ANDY KATZEMOYER (SP?)THAT DUDE WAS A BEAST AT OHIO STATEINJURIES AND LACK OF BRAIN CELLS SHORTENED HIS NFL CAREER
7/2/2007 4:29:21 PM
also put how they got injured. randolph childress?
7/2/2007 4:42:00 PM
Edwards' big injury was after his rookie NFL year when he fucked up his knee playing sand football at the pro bowl
7/2/2007 4:55:53 PM
Cam Ward's save on pisani with 2 min left in game 7

7/2/2007 5:13:02 PM
I can't think of any at the moment except Lavar Arrington. I'm sure there are others but he popped into my mind of recent playes I've seen that injuries ended/shortened his career. Are we talking in person or on TV?
7/2/2007 5:22:22 PM
^^^ Unless you know something no one else does, Cam Ward is completely healthy and has a long career ahead of him.
7/2/2007 5:25:16 PM
MJ in his prime. not quite the same watchin his last game of his career, but still, best player of all time.
7/2/2007 6:16:31 PM
I've seen MJ for the Bulls...I've seen Tiger...I've seen Jerry Rice...but none of them really had their careers ended/shortened by injury
7/2/2007 6:19:18 PM
Michelle Wie
7/2/2007 6:34:46 PM
I'd actually say Childress too(he was the man back in the day, just couldn't stay healthy come tournament time). Also Grant Hill.I actually saw both of them at signing events but never actually saw either of them play in person, it was weird. But meeting Childress was dwarfed by meeting Tim Duncan standing next to him, haha.

I saw Griffey Jr. one time at a Reds/Indians game when i went to Clevelandalthough his career isn't over and he's doing great now I still find it hard to believe he wouldn't have broken the home run record if he could have stayed a little bit healthier those few years ago
7/2/2007 7:00:51 PM
cant believe no one has said this guy yet

^calm down
7/2/2007 7:28:36 PM
Knee injuries kept Randolph Childress from the NBA.
7/2/2007 7:34:19 PM
yeah, thats fine, but people are mentioning people that lost 1-2 years but still had great careers... and yes I know that technically that is a "shortened" career...
7/2/2007 7:37:53 PM
^I wasn't responding to your comment, it was the guy that wanted to know what happened to Randolph.
7/2/2007 7:40:09 PM
kb24 in Italy and also when he played charlotte 5 years ago and made that game winning shot
7/2/2007 8:40:27 PM
i'm making a stretch, but i saw charlie garner when he played for the eagles before he made it big with the 9ers and the Raiders. granted not that great, but best player that fits the criteria.
7/2/2007 9:01:34 PM
if i saw bobby hurley in college, does that count?i think it does
7/2/2007 9:04:46 PM
Bobby Hurley was an NBA flop before the wreck.
7/2/2007 9:14:02 PM
Tiger

7/2/2007 11:03:29 PM
not shortened but I saw jordan play in charlotte in '92 or so
7/2/2007 11:14:31 PM
Chris Kelley...In high school he was the best quarterback I have ever seen. Top rated quarterback I believe. His team was like 26-0 with him starting. 40 something touchdowns his senior year. Got all sorts of offers, but decided to stay close to home and go to Maryland. Was the highest rated quarterback on the east coast. If he didn't fuck up both his knees, Scott McBrien would never have seen the field.
7/2/2007 11:21:16 PM
I was at the sideline of the FSU-Duke game to see Chris "The Weinkster" Weinke play during his Heisman year. I think FSU won like 63-14.Old age and lack of hair have drastically shortened his NFL playing time
