So this is my first 4th of July in Raleigh, where are some good places to go see fireworks? Doesn't necessarily have to be on the 4th either.

we usually park over by those apartments/office buildings on Trinity just down the street from Carter Finley. Not bad.

anywhere else sides the fairgrounds?

where I'm from there are a lot of places within 20-30 minutes.. so maybe extend the range to just outside of raleigh as well?

fairgrounds will have the best by far, but most towns do a show also

I can't remember if it was last year or the year before that, but the fireworks at the fairgrounds were extremely lame. There wasn't even a "finale" to speak of. I kept waiting for something but the show just kinda petered out. The shows they put on every day during the state fair were better.

Might have been an off year though.

On July 3rd Lake Benson in Garner has fireworks and performance by the NC symphony. ON the Fourth, Regency Park in Cary does the same thing. You can also see the fairground fireworks from Meredith College.

5 county stadium where the mudcats play off of 264 has the best fireworks around raleigh, fairgrounds blows compared to it

264 and surrounding roads are lined with cars

show will be at least 20 minutes long starts right after the game ends on weds

yea i remember the fireworks at the mudcats being at least half an hour, but it beats the 17 minute shows at the fairgrounds, i guess i was trying to emphasize that, but failed

Can't embed but it gets good at about the 2 minute mark:

If you're willing to make the drive, Fort Bragg is open to the public and is usually a pretty good deal from what I hear.

Duke University usually has a good show at Wallace Wade Stadium. Not sure if they are going it this year or not. A couple years ago I think something happened with their permit/it was too dry

Compared to the fairgrounds, Regency Park in Cary is better in my opinion. I've gone for the show as a teen, and worked EMS at it for the last few years. The fireworks show is nice and long, and also the NC Symphony plays beforehand. Nice grassy areas to sit, pretty view of the lake.

Would the top of Dan Allen Deck provide a good view of the fairgrounds show?

You probably could see them but it wouldn't be that great even from meredith last year i thought it was kinda meh, but i like to be up real close where it's loud and fills your field of vision.
