6/27/2007 3:55:48 PM
1976 Land Rover 101 Forward Control GS with 40k kilometers (24,800) miles. Runs on gasoline or propane (LPG). Former Dutch Military truck. The 110 will be gone this evening.... buyer in California is having a shipper pick it up...hes planning to do a 300 TDI swap, add fuel injection, add AC,replace the bulkhead and convert to LHD. Guy has like 7 rovers already, including 2-D90's and a LR3. Kids all drive newer Discoverys.[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 3:59 PM. Reason : .]
6/27/2007 3:57:30 PM

6/27/2007 3:57:51 PM
that's one angry-looking rover[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 4:05 PM. Reason : wouldnt be a rover without the roof rack, even though it got like a 8 ft bed]
6/27/2007 4:03:47 PM
Yeah, the rack is what sold me compared to the other ones I had found.
6/27/2007 4:17:28 PM
it wouldnt be fratastic without the rack
6/27/2007 4:17:54 PM
hahha that shit is AWESOME. oh the looks ull get.how much did that unit run u
6/27/2007 4:22:11 PM
I prefer to not talk $ since it has caused me problems in the past.
6/27/2007 4:23:14 PM
What does the inside of the back look like?Seats or what?
6/27/2007 4:24:36 PM
1mpgbut awesome
6/27/2007 4:44:19 PM
well if i ever start a local militia i know who will be transporting my troops
6/27/2007 4:45:33 PM
Actually, it gets around 12 mpg according to the owner, even more on LPG, which is better than my 110 or my Discovery did. The back is open, no seats or anything (yet)[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 4:49 PM. Reason : .]
6/27/2007 4:48:27 PM
Think it can do 55mph?
6/27/2007 4:48:50 PM
Seller says it tops out at about 60, although can go 65+ on a downhill stretch.
6/27/2007 4:50:05 PM
I think it is only right that you hook it up to the BIGBLUEBIRD
6/27/2007 4:51:07 PM
12mpg wouldn't be awful considering the size'grats!
6/27/2007 4:51:48 PM
I know a cat out in WF has one. They're kinda cool to wheel in. different.
6/27/2007 4:53:14 PM
Its a 101" wheelbase (9" shorter than my 110 was). It just seems longer because it doesn'nt have three feet of bumper and hood in front of it. That and with the lift and rack it looks really high (which it is). I am limiting what I am going to wheel...nothing extreme.... its too rare, center of gravity is high and probably top heavy with the rack.[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 4:55 PM. Reason : .]
6/27/2007 4:54:37 PM
Cool purchase. I still want a Pinzgauer.
6/27/2007 4:55:09 PM
That would be the baddest airport shuttle service vehicle ever.
6/27/2007 5:09:31 PM
I like the serrated/dimpled ring on the front wheel so you can get in it. that is a badass rig.
6/27/2007 5:22:15 PM
well put it to work immediately. i need some mulch delivered lol
6/27/2007 5:27:41 PM
About as aerodynamic as a brick... Literally...But badass all the same.
6/27/2007 5:28:41 PM
mall cruiser
6/27/2007 5:30:40 PM
Badass
6/27/2007 6:13:23 PM
^^ haha. Now I have to do the 7 pin to 4 pin conversion like we did on the 110. At least it will be easy this go around. I also need to source a 50mm tow ball.PS: Perhaps I should have named the Bluebird as an exception[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 7:33 PM. Reason : .]
6/27/2007 7:18:58 PM
nice grocery getter... you and what army?
6/27/2007 7:34:32 PM

6/27/2007 8:03:51 PM
6/27/2007 8:06:28 PM
xmls are cheap (compared to other offroad tires) if you know where to find them....i really want a mog thoughwhat would be a good diesel to throw in one for a lil more power.
6/27/2007 8:06:53 PM
yep. i'm only asking $700 for mine. 2 are ~95% tread the other 2 are basically 100%.in comparison to a 35:good diesel for a mog? i'd do a 4bt or 6bt. you kind of ruin all the coolness of the wild gearing they have though unless you come up with some sort of custom adapter. pretty sure they come in a diesel model stock though? benz diesels are solid generally speaking.[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 8:14 PM. 6/27/2007 8:09:18 PM
yeah and i paid 770 for my mtrs 31 x10.5^ thats what usa6x6 sells them 4 too.yeah i mean the 16 speed boxes in the farm versions are sick and i dunno why but i'd like to be able to hit 70 w/ 1 though...[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 8:15 PM. Reason : .]
6/27/2007 8:12:15 PM
Well, the tires on mine are in good shape so it will be awhile before I have such a dilemma (I hope). Speaking of a mog, theres one in Chapel Hill for $10,500 in great shape. I drove it Sunday. details herehttp://www.bechange.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=832[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 8:17 PM. Reason : .]

6/27/2007 10:56:42 PM
Hell you can buy my lightweight for about the same. Or maybe even find something like my 101 for a little more. I'd be bored with a FJ40 in a month (well at this point). Probably not two years ago though.
6/27/2007 11:03:43 PM
I would have gotten a mog over a rover. My uncle's got a ferret, complete with a .50 cal. semi-auto browning look alike its pretty sweet but he's into militias an shit so I guess he needs for that.
6/27/2007 11:04:07 PM
i kinda like ratty trucks. the rattier the better. i dont really like cosmetically takin care of shit. not dropping my bike doing my daily dumb shit is trouble enough
