So I have to choose my path and I don't know which one to do:
1) I have 2 engineering degrees so do I want to do engineering which will require me to move far away from family and friends.
2) My twin brother and me are both good guitar players/songwriters. Numerous ppl have said we need to start a band together/ move to the same place.
3) Always wanted to be a teacher/coach and live close to the family back home.
4) Alot of ppl have said my twin and I need to become models, like the double mint twins or something. I think this is the gayest idea ever as I'm never concerned with looks.
5) Go back to school and get a masters in something I actually want to do....help other ppl and make others smile.
6) Open my own business with my bro.

What do ya'll think. I know that its retarted to ask a bunch of ppl that I don't know so no need to say it.

Never listen to "a lot of people". Unless you've had people in the business (music or modeling) tell you that you have talent, then it's not worth basing a life plan around. If you can get some face time with professionals in those areas, you should do that before deciding that's what you should do with your life.

You don't have to move far away. Tell you what: Find any engineering firm at all in the area. Try to get in contact with a manager for their engineering design department. Find a construction firm and ask if they need somebody to work on the estimating team or something. There are plenty of companies who will take you up if you're smart and motivated. You're already proving yourself to be talented and capable by double majoring in engineering. You don't have to stick with the jobs that are just specific to your immediate degree. It's just about getting your foot in the door somewhere that will meet your needs.

So have a beer on the weekends and hang out. It's hard as hell to make money working in the music industry, but you could probably make a fun hobby out of your skills. Just because you're in engineering doesn't mean you can't start up your own little local band and perform on the weekends. Hell, I know people that do that.

Cool. What's more important for you? Being with your family or pursuing your dreams or making money or what? Weigh your options. There's probably engineering jobs near where your family lives. Ask a construction firm in the area if they need a design engineer at their local office and tell them your qualifications and that you'd be willing to learn the trade. Live with your family, work in engineering, and sort out your other options in life in the meantime.

A lot of people are idiots, and a lot of people don't know how to mind their own business. Being a model is probably harder than being a musician. If you don't want to be a whore, don't be a model.

So you don't want anything to do with that double major you have right now? Why not see if you can apply it to something else you're interested in. What do you like? Construction? Design? Cars? Architecture? Social work? If you can't answer those questions, think about what shows on TV really excite you. Do you have to change your pants every time you see "megastructures" on national geographic? Do the gun shows on the history channel make you wish you could take part in the gun industry? I figured out that I wanted something to do with buildings when I was a kid because every time those discovery channel shows came on about those massive building projects in europe (like the next huge bridge, or the chunnel project, and so on) I would be glued to the TV for the whole hour. Just think back to times like that and turn it into a career.

Cool, one step at a time though. Figure out what business you want to get into, then work for a company in that business for a while and benefit from their training and experience. I'm doing this now. My brother is working on starting up a design-build firm, and I'm going to help him keep engineering costs low by offering him my services on a reasonable-fee basis one day once I get a stamp that means something. After that I might bury myself into that job more and help out the community at the same time (we want to do economical green-building, and offer in-house financing and keep a vertical monopoly for our supply chain so we can afford to offer housing to people that are living in trailers so they aren't just pissing money away into the wind).

Just be a boss and be decisive. Other people's input is good, but it doesn't really mean shit. You get the final say in your own life, don't let somebody else's doubt in you affect your decision to do something. If you're motivated and get some experience in what you want to do, you'll have no problem doing it (unless you want to do something like snort coke all day, then you will need a sugar mama).

Jeez, I WISH I had two engineering degrees. Dude, just take the Engineering job and make money. You can still practice your band or whatever.
