How would you go about making a car untowable?Aside from the obvious (making the car out of cement, square wheels) what could you do? Are really heavy super duty trucks heavier than the max towing capacity? Could you some how electrify the exterior?
6/20/2007 1:30:19 PM
big ass concrete anchor plus logging chain
6/20/2007 1:32:01 PM
Well let's think of it in a sense of keeping the car looking relatively normal and keeping it daily drivable. Would there be a way to make a small-size sedan like a honda civic into an untowable vehicle?
6/20/2007 1:33:04 PM
Parking pass would
6/20/2007 1:38:23 PM
daily driveable & untowable. while its certainly possible, lets just go ahead & get it out there that you won't be able to accomplish this.

optmusprimer has an untowable vehicle. in terms that it would be hard to get a hold of it without fuckin it up[Edited on June 20, 2007 at 1:49 PM. Reason : .]

^ that doesnt matter, they arent responsible for damages, if my truck can be towed, anything can
6/20/2007 1:50:15 PM
tr00, two big ole tow truck drivers could prolly pick up optmuses bug and load it on a flatbed safely anyhow haha[Edited on June 20, 2007 at 1:52 PM. Reason : .]
6/20/2007 1:51:59 PM
long as you can get dollys under it and stick it, theres no way to keep it from getting towed, without damage to your car
6/20/2007 1:57:22 PM
6/20/2007 2:02:58 PM
where's the myth?
6/20/2007 2:07:11 PM
even if it was a cement car or had square wheels.. a roll back can tow pretty much anything.

10000lb lowrider dropped on the frame
6/20/2007 2:17:46 PM
I guess you could carry around a big ass chain and park near light poles or anything else solid. Basically you'd just have to make them say fuck it, it's not worth it.

like 69 said, there's pretty much nothing they can't tow with dollys. i got a durango towed in atlanta one time with it wedged in between two curbs, in 4wd, wheels turned, and hooked up to a 16ft. trailer. they took the whole thing. i can't think of anything you could do and still keep a vehicle "normal".i do wonder if my bus could be towed... they'd have to bring in a pretty big truck equipped with a sling to grab it from the rear bumper/frame. the rear overhang is too much for any normal boom/dolly setup.
6/20/2007 2:40:09 PM
i bet you them fucker will look at it as a challangeyou should park it somewheer towing enforced some time
6/20/2007 3:17:45 PM
i have. when i was picking it up in charlseton, i had nowhere to park it at the guy's house i was staying at. so i parked it across the street behind a piggly wiggly with a 14ft. trailer and tahoe in tow. assholes slapped those big orange stickers ALL over everything. two on the bus, one on the trailer, and two on the tahoe. we managed to peel four of them back off, and plastered them on the glass of the store. i was parked illegally, but it was on a public street, it wasn't blocking traffic, and there was no need for that many stickers.
6/20/2007 3:22:40 PM
Like what if you somehow electrified the body of the car? is that possible? how about some sort of mechanism that prevented the car from being lifted off the ground, think people!
6/20/2007 3:30:40 PM
I think that would be illegal, but honestly they don't even need to touch the body of the car to tow it.
6/20/2007 3:32:51 PM
considering it's illegal to booby trap your land against trespassers, i would imagine the same holds true for a vehicle. especially if you're actually parked illegally.
6/20/2007 3:42:25 PM
Ok well throw legality out of the window
6/20/2007 3:46:11 PM
6/20/2007 4:27:15 PM
get some fake tags and window clings that say "PROPERTY OF THE UNITED STATES FEDERAL GOVERMENT"i wonder if they'd tow that.
6/20/2007 4:32:18 PM
put a bodykit on it with air suspension to lower it flush with the ground, and throw in some cement reinforcing around it. Aint no way they'll be able to get anything under it to snatch it up and if they try they will fuck up the truck.
6/20/2007 5:17:36 PM
^yea, air suspension is the key. a lotta of trucks with bags could get by easily..
6/20/2007 5:28:30 PM
build it with no corners or tow hooks and airbag suspension
6/20/2007 5:47:26 PM
^doesnt matter, if they can clear under the car they will scoop it from the tires.go to keep the entire car flush with the ground, and leave in in neutral so any push-under attempt will just move the whole car. Also flare the lip out at the bottom to force the forks up instead of down.
6/20/2007 5:54:50 PM
DURRRR the awnser is to drive a tow truck yourself. The other tow driver will leave your shit alone.
6/20/2007 5:59:18 PM
they could still get a bagged vehicle up with dollys. unless you had pretty much zero clearance between the lower portion of the fender and tire, but then you wouldn't be steering either.[Edited on June 20, 2007 at 6:06 PM. Reason : .]
6/20/2007 6:05:43 PM
park in a parking space next to a curb and then cut your wheels into the curb when you park. i think that works...maybe not...my shit got almost towed the other night at fucking 3:00 in the morning. thank god my room mate was still up drinking, he saw that shit happening and walked out there and stopped him.
6/20/2007 6:17:06 PM
^if they cant pull it out they'll just drag it out and then lift it
6/20/2007 6:25:36 PM

6/20/2007 6:31:27 PM
a guy from high school got a new transmission in his subaru because of a towing company, they are responsible for damage
6/20/2007 7:16:47 PM
6/20/2007 7:52:35 PM
Anything can be towed with enough time and resources
6/20/2007 8:36:01 PM
^^good call. something layin frame with the body right there too and the wheels tucked up just might do the trick...
6/20/2007 10:17:57 PM
Esp if you have something with cased in rear tires, similar to how a lot of older sedans had, park head in, no way tog et to the rear tires or rear end to lift or move it. I have seen a larger truck that was 'secured' by taking off the tires on one side with it on jack stands, he placed a big ass locking cover over the axle ends thus preventing the tires from being remounted. Not imposible to tow or take, but hard. I have also seen a trick we do at some jobsites, park 2 vehicles VERY close side by side, cable lock the wheels together front and rear. Makes it so you cannot just get a long ass flatbed to grab them both. Anything that makes your vehicle too wide to move easily works for most tow truck companies.
6/21/2007 12:45:49 AM
where's that thread of the civic owner that took his wheel with a boot attached off his car...
6/21/2007 1:53:35 AM
6/21/2007 11:48:10 AM
wtf is that gonna do?
6/21/2007 11:48:56 AM
I think that grate might be welded shut. It looks like there might be a bead.

6/21/2007 1:19:46 PM
^x6 Wouldn't that be stealing city property if they towed the car and took the grate too? Edit: ^ Locking both axles won't do anything for ya. I've had my car towed with the tranny in park (front axle) and the back locked by the parking brake. They'll just lift one end and dolly the other or drag it up onto a flat bed.[Edited on June 21, 2007 at 1:24 PM. Reason : .]
