tacoma
6/18/2007 10:51:38 AM
tacoma or frontier....known several people who had each and they all loved them.
6/18/2007 10:59:26 AM
my dad has a titan and it's a nice truck...
6/18/2007 11:01:50 AM
you can rearrange the letters on the back to say "tits is nnana"
6/18/2007 11:07:08 AM
or you could do "tits n annis"
6/18/2007 11:12:26 AM
thats a lot better than the one i had!
6/18/2007 11:12:56 AM
tacoma, sister and her husband have had three and they last a long ass time, pretty reliable and fun to boot. If you can deal with high gas prices for the long run then I'd stick with the F-150 or ram.
6/18/2007 11:15:38 AM
if you don't need a full size, then get a tacoma. It'll hold its value like nothing else, be reliable, capable, and look good. I say this having owned one and now owning a silverado, wishing I had a tacoma.
6/18/2007 11:20:16 AM
your first mistake is considering a chevy or ford. might make an exception for dodge.
6/18/2007 11:21:05 AM
again... what do you want in a car.for a truck right now i would go ford yota or nissan (no ranger though) the cars aren't bad, the mustang is obviously easiest to modify since ford supports that.
6/18/2007 11:22:34 AM
for truck i first wanted the chevy colorado or gmc canyonbut thats a new model and not much info about it...hasnt been out long enoughbut size of truck doenst matter, i like the chevy but i do like mid sized trucks or smaller trucks like the toyotasin a car, i just want something that has atleast a decent mpg and is a nice car. nothing like hondas or toyota cars but i like the dodge cars or the mustangi wish i could wait till 2009 for the new camaro
6/18/2007 11:27:01 AM
if you're talking v6 then none of those cars would i consider good.
6/18/2007 11:36:47 AM
i figured id have to get a v8 because of gas and total costs would be higher but id rather get that but not opposed to a v6
6/18/2007 11:44:52 AM
One of my friends dad's worked for chevy and he had a silverado that lasted maybe 80k before it broke down.I've always had good luck with Yota's (although they may be down on towing power compared to some of those others).
6/18/2007 12:10:48 PM
If you don't need a fullsize truck don't get one. Midsize etc. Tacoma would probably be your best bet. Plus the new Tundra is ugly, at least IMO.
6/18/2007 5:31:27 PM
If you want a truck that will last you with minimal problems, get a ford (and treat it right). Dodge makes good trucks with the exception of using the worst transmissions known to man. Chevy makes great engines and transmissions but everything outside the engine will fail often. I know this from working at merchant's.... most of the time ford trucks come through it's for tires, brakes, oil changes, and other routine maintenance. Most of the time chevy trucks come through it's for alternators, water pumps, and tires. Dodes don't even make it to the shop

ford and dodge were actually last on my picks for trucks, only the mustang or the charger were really competitors.F.O.R.D. is for Fix Or Repair Daily for a reason.fords are notorious for having car troublesi know about chevy's because a few of my buddies have them and my parents and family have had chevy's before that last a good time. we have almost 300.000 miles on our chevy van....like the conversion vans with the couch in the back and the tire and ladder on the back doors. only problem with that van was the tranny has had issues, the belt slips and has stopped once or so, the air conditioning from overusage. oil hasnt been much of a problem. my gpa had this old chevy s10 that i still drive now, only problems, oil problem and bad suspension but its from the early 80s.my top picks now are the silverado and the tocoma or frontier
6/19/2007 7:44:42 AM
the new ford diesels have a built in flame thrower on the exhaust i mean how cool is that.ohh and chev build quality isn't that great eitherthe work truck at my golf course got a new engine plopped in because the ecu & intake manifold was jacked, there was a recall on it but not till after significant damage to the bottom end had been done from a lean condition. (V6) basically if you buy American you'll use your warranty if you buy toyota or nissan you probably won't need it.
6/19/2007 7:55:06 AM
yea, thats why im siding with the imports partly because i dont really need as big of a truck as a silverado. even though i like the truck and id take it, the gas and the total cost is bringing me to pick a tacoma, tundra, or frontier
6/19/2007 8:36:35 AM
Well i'm in the offroading world therefore a LOT of my friends have trucks. Most of them have either ford or chevy because while everything else on a dodge is good (except electrical gremlins, damn chrysler) the transmissions are not worth dealing with - unless you get a cummins, then maybe you can look past it because the cummins is the sexiest engine known to man. Chevys hold up well with the exception of the alternators and similar problems. If you want to throw an alternator at it every few years, go right ahead. Most of my friends with fords (mostly diesels) haven't really had any issues other than maintenance. When it comes down to it brand preference is a lot of BS like the saying found on road dead. It's just people finding their favorite make and sticking with it. The key isn't to pick f-150 over k1500 or d1500, it's finding one of those three in good shape. Anybody who knows cars knows that it's just as much about the owner as it is about the car. I don't include imports in my reviews because I don't believe in import trucks, mostly because i'm american They just aren't the same. When you buy a truck, buy a truck.. not a truck that wishes it was a car. If you get a mustang, get an 03 cobra. end of story.

for one thing, im getting a new car, so either 06 or 07i need a reliable vehicle that has decent to good gas mileage and little hassles. i have to work with my dad to keep up most of our vehicles now cause i drive old vehicles that my parents own.i keep up vehicles, so maintenance is not a problem, but if a few years from now a major part breaks, thats a downerimport or not, thats wat needs to fit. i wish some of the smaller trucks had diesels but i havent seen that anywhere besides bigger modelsyes i have some biase in me for trucks but that wont be the deciding factor. and if we talk about mustangs, getting a saleen or cobra is not an option......maybe a GT but just a nice new mustang
6/19/2007 1:48:13 PM
if money isnt a problem, get a new silverado, they last forever, and hold their value, 5-6 year old chevys with 100k+ miles are still going for $10ki've had three, first two with over 250k miles, totaled the first, second was stolen and my third just went over 200k of constant abuse and it jsut keeps goingthe extended cab short bed is a great setup, plus the 4.8 gets decent mileage, the 5.3 or 6.0 get about the same mileage, so i'd go for the bigger of the two is gas isnt an issue
6/19/2007 2:01:53 PM
I took a pretty new (latest body style) F150 to WV not too long ago and found myself surprisingly impressed. It rode better, had a more comfortable interior, and had better ergonomics than the Chevys and Dodges that I've driven/ridden in. For a daily driver that would see part time truck duties it seemed pretty nice. The kicker was that the Ford had over 90k miles and looked mint inside and out (except for the bed.) If I were looking for an American truck I doubt Chevy or Dodge would win me over.I'd go with the Yota though just because of resale value and dependability.[Edited on June 19, 2007 at 2:11 PM. i would go with chevy over ford and dodge because of the maintenance.....and yea, shortbed with extended cab is wat i wanted.i really was wanting a deisel but if anything id get a v6 since gas is an issue.i know there are some companies making special gas mileaged trucks, are there any types of hybrid silverados or anything or not really hybrids but smart trucks that use computers to save gas
6/19/2007 2:44:17 PM
6/19/2007 2:58:36 PM
what is the point of owning a v6 truckjust buy a car
6/19/2007 3:02:18 PM
v6 isn't terrible, even in a fullsize. definitely isn't a problem in a midsize. one of our company trucks is an 03 silverado 4wd with the 4.3. the power certainly isn't there, but it gets considerabley better gas mileage than a v8. it's been mostly a piece of junk otherwise, but it gets used pretty hard.
6/19/2007 3:12:54 PM
yeah, my dad has ^ essentially the same truck. what a pile. he's got 80K on it, and its just problem after problem.
6/19/2007 3:20:19 PM
see im not hauling huge boats or going bogging. if anytihng id go offroading somewhere that i wont hurt the truck, needs to be able to pull small things like other cars, trailers of low weight, or small boats that dont go over 17 feet, and carry a bed full of just shita v6 will do that, there is no need for a v8 unless ur doing serious offroading or heavy pulling, which i wont be doing. road economics is more important then that
6/19/2007 3:22:20 PM
if you're planning to pull cars, you need to look no further than a fullsize, period. towing isn't about power. it's about suspension, brakes, and wheel base. a tacoma/frontier/dakota simply don't have enough of those three to safely pull something like another vehicle.
6/19/2007 3:36:11 PM
6/19/2007 3:43:46 PM
right....but a silverado or f150 can pull it and have the stopping power and other characteristics to pull cars or boats
6/19/2007 4:15:47 PM
yep. that's why i said you can cross the other things off your list if you plan to pull cars. silverado/sierra/f150/tundra should be your list for that. some will argue the titan since it's considered a fullsize also, but imo it lacks an adequate rear end for much towing (dana 44).[Edited on June 19, 2007 at 4:24 PM.
