after taking out a shit load of $$$ in student loans over my 5 semesters and 2 summer sessions I found out for the first time that I am getting $2200/semester in grants/schlorships during the 07-08 year. Does anyone know what the minimum hours is in order to receive financial aid awarded grants? I only have one semester left after this summer and plan to CoOp this fall. I was planning on taking a ENG 331 online 2nd summer session, but it may be worth it to take it this fall since I have been allowanced $2K per semester. I know student loans required 1/2 full time (6 hours) if grants work the same way I could just take some other random online class and ENG 331 for free in the fall.[Edited on June 17, 2007 at 11:42 PM. i was under the impression that you just had to be a full time student, and in your final semester i was told you are full time regardless of how many credits you take

^ no in the final semester its reduced but not any amount of hours (I want to say 9 hrs)

That's not entirely true about grad students not getting any financial aid. I received a small academic grant my first semester--it was only $400 dollars, though. And I think there are other types of aid for grads, too.

This past weekend we awarded Grad Students, DVM students, and second-degree students. Continuing students were awarded over a week ago. If you still have not received an award letter, please call, email, come in to our office and check to make sure that there isn't anything holding up your financial aid (i.e., a missing document(s) or unsatisfactory academic progress).

Yeah i was told that grad students only get money through grants in their dept or mostly through ra or ta assiatantships. so if your dept doesnt have any available which sometimes happens with first semester grad students your kinda fucked for that semester other than loans. im not sure about that small academic grant tho.
