I work at the Sheraton in downtown Raleigh and we have several really nice banquet rooms and can provide catering if you need. Let me know if you want to check it out, and a little bit more information (how many people, how long, will you also need hotel rooms, etc.), and I'll set you up with someone in our sales department.

We have used the Sheraton for social functions. The food is great (except the chicken marsala, which is ok) and the catering staff rocks as well. Their cash bar system is far better than the Cardinal Club. I would not recommend using the hotel if you have a lot of guests that will also need hotel rooms. They have three elevators for 16 floors and its impossible to get on one. They are pretty much always booked for conventions and the number of people make it VERY difficult to get around the hotel. The keys are required for the elevator and are floor specific, so its hard to get to other rooms. The Sheraton actually charges $10 for parking, but there is a free lot right beside the Sheraton lot. We have stayed at the hotel twice with reservations and had staffing issues both times. Either the rooms were not together, not ready at 5 pm check in or they tried to put us in a king room with four people and ONE free roll away. I have never had a similar problem at other hotels. I am not sure what you are looking to spend, but for the smaller ballroom at the Sheraton, we had a $6k minimum to spend on food and alcohol. We had 200 people at the event and a bar bill of around $3k. If you want something a little easier on the wallet, try Cafe Luna. They have private rooms and I think a $40 minimum per head. Not too sure if you could have a DJ.[Edited on June 12, 2007 at 10:44 AM. Reason : k]

Try various country clubs in cary/raleigh. They all differ in what they can offer and at what prices, and they can also give you lists of various DJ's that have previously worked parties and weddings.

I work at a country club in Cary. Most any country club would have rooms you could rent out for something like that. You will probably have to use their food though. Most don't allow you to have anything catered or do pot luck for liability reasons. We use Complete DJ Service and A Touch of Class for a lot of events.
