So i just moved to greenville, SC and I have been very unhappy with Charter Cable down here. Besides being out 2 days out of the 7 i have been here my web browsing has been slow and any programs i run that use the internet have very high ping. However, any speed test i run has be around 4900 kbps downstream with around 500 kbps upstream. It is very consistent tho that my ping in any game i play is around 400ms or greater and even loading simple webpages like tww home page takes longer than it should - not like 10 seconds..but a couple seconds (which shouldnt be happening).Any idea on this? All my network drivers are up to date, im plugged directly into a modem and i've never had these problems before with this computer anywhere else that i have had it

are you running torrents?

no. the odd thing is my latency down here is worse than when i had azereus running torrents in raleigh.did a trace route to 2 gaming servers as well as several websites i visit and got latency jumping into the 300s by the 8th or 9th hop and timing out by the 10th-12th hop.Called my cable company and tried to have them reroute my mac address and also had them reset my connection on their end. Nothing changed latencywise tho >.<

are you getting long times in your first jumps or later? Cause you're making it sound like it's some router way out in the internet that you wouldn't have any control over.
