so my dad had two parts beetles, he gave me one to fix up. it's a 1967, it's going to need a ton of work so it'll be a slow build.

i was just seeing if anyone had any good forums/sites for fixing them up.

oh lord. 1967 is the toughest year to fix up id say, they had more year specific parts in 67 than any other year.

http://www.thesamba.com but like any other forum take stuff over there with a grain of salt. what are you trying to fix on it?

I got a good laugh reading that Matt. You dont need factory manuals dude, what you need is How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive by John Muir. Its available at any bookstore worth a damn.

How bad is the rust and where is it? Floors I am guessing. I need pics, it may be better not to touch it.

you cant baja a 67 if its at least semi solid. you can baja superbeetles all day long cause they suck anyhow.

the rat rod however is totally possible. vw people call them hoodrides though, dont ask me why. rust is in style right now man, post pics and lets see whats up with it.

how fast can you make an air-cooled VW without totally breaking the bank?

like with one of those oversized air-cooled engines that bolts in?

leave the rust, even the rust on the wheels. find you a used headlamp ring, and whatever lights and shit you need, we slam it with beam adjusters in the front, and let the back down a couple splines, and get some good tires- maybe whitewalls and drive it. it wont be as gangster as mine but itll be pretty sweet.
we could also fab air suspension for it... i assume you dont want to fork out the 2gs for the kit.

restoring it at this point is gonna be tough... and very expensive.

i have the headlight ring and all of the trim. i know it's going to be expensive to restore, that's why i'm not going to do it at the moment. like i said, it's going to be a slow build. i'm just going to stop the rust right now, get it running, then start fixing things slowly. no slamming, dropping, or air suspension old school man
