My dad has one of those Webers on the first page he has been pleased with it

http://tinyurl.com/3dcupfweber performance charcoal with gas assist lighting. all the flavor and smoking ability of charcoal without having to wait as long. only $299 so you could pay tax and get a nice cover and grill accessories and still have money left to blow on something likehttp://tinyurl.com/33mllsfor all your slow roasting, beer drinking saturdays.or if you're dead-set on gas, any of those higher-end weber grills would be good. i've never used a "charmglow" grill before, but stainless grills to me always seem like they're overpriced just b/c they're shiny and stainless steel.[Edited on June 4, 2007 at 9:45 PM. i'll second that Weber Performance charcoal w/ gas assist. it is worth its weight in gold.plus it comes in multiple colors, or at least it did a couple years ago.[Edited on June 4, 2007 at 9:46 PM. Reason : ]

not 100% dead set on gas but i will probably end up going that way this time - i agree with the stainless comment and the look of the grill means nothing to me i would like a small smoker to go along with the grill down the road i think though - haven't eaten a lot off of a smoker before but where i moved to in atlanta - down the street is an ncsu grad i met and he cooked some chicken on his smoker a few weeks ago and it was amazing

you can get a pretty nice grill for less than 300... I cook a lot on mine and it does just fine
6/4/2007 10:09:02 PM
we have a charmglow stainless steel grill we got from HD last year and it's been great for us, minus my dogs trying to eat the knobs off of it...

^^^ yeah smokers are great if you have the room to store one and the time to cook on them, especially doing ribs or any kind of bbq. for your 600 you could always swing a decent, smaller gas grill and a good smoker too. i mean honestly, how often are you going to use every square inch of cooking surface on one of those giant $600 gas grills?
6/4/2007 11:06:54 PM
Dad's got a Charmglow, 'tis a nice grill. It's less than 2 years old though, so I can't say much one way or the other about reliability. So far so good.

Get an offset firebox smoker. I have one and it is well worth it, phenomenal for pork shoulders. Ribs, wings, and brisket have all turned out great as well.

A real man uses Kingsford
6/5/2007 7:08:05 AM
Screw kingsford. Hickory is where its at, or natural wood charcoal.

I have a Charmglow that has to be at least 5-10 years old. It's mounted to my deck and hard fixed to the gas line so I never need to change a tank. I replaced the burner in it when we moved in and have used it every month of the year for 2 years now with no problems.

taste the meat not the heatttttttttttttttttttt
6/5/2007 8:15:55 AM
^^ I thought about getting a natural gas one for my deck too, but I decided against it because of the cost of running the gas line. I ended up with a Fiesta stainless grill from Home Depot which has been really good. It was nowhere near $600 though, so I don't think it is what Omar is looking for. I'm grilling some lamb chops tonight!

I've heard great things about Weber as well. We're grilling a pork loin on my friend's Weber tomorrow.

I've got a regular old round Weber charcoal grill that works great. For bbq, I use wood coals on a little cider block pit I built.

knowing our business, i'd be willing to bet that there will be at least one grill on a special buy the weekend of the 4th of july. our paper inserts drop on Thursdays, so pick up a paper and check them out.
6/5/2007 11:11:48 PM
http://tinyurl.com/2y3gvli bought that one (the propane version) - 3 burner weber - with no extras / frills - having the first cookout tomorrow
6/20/2007 12:27:47 PM
I still say my offset firebox smoker and a modest charcoal grill is the way to go.
6/20/2007 12:39:57 PM
a friend of my dad has thishttp://www.biggreenegg.ca/products.htmsays its the best grill he has ever owned
6/20/2007 12:51:12 PM
^^^Ive got the two burner version of yours, the 210, and I love it so far
6/21/2007 12:18:00 AM
I have this hoss for $170 from HDand by far is better than any Weber grill for the money.....Cast Iron grates, you can grill, smoke, etc. Sturdy built, plenty of room. And please don't spend $texas on a gas grill.....just use your oven instead and buy some beer to offset the taste

Buy a little portable tailgating grill for $30 that you can fit in the back of a car, use the difference to buy season football tickets ($290/ticket if memory serves), and still have plenty of beer money left over
6/21/2007 10:00:22 AM
Or buy a nice gas grill, the season football tickets, and a portable propane grill ftw. On a portable note...I've had the little Weber #1520 for almost a decade now and it rocks. It was my main grill for about three years when I was living in Kensington Park and a couple of rental houses. I'm planning to take it with me to Kure Beach this weekend. I'm thinking of getting this onehttp://tinyurl.com/35tub2It was rated very high by consumer reports.I really like the Weber series, but Lowes only has their base model and I have a gift card for Lowes that I probably won't use otherwise.

please please spend a lot less than $600 on a grill
