i bought a 360 once, it didn't work upon opening it, then I took it back and got it changed for another one, it worked for about 2 hours and i got the red lights of doom.

then i exchanged that for a 3rd one, which upon opening did not work either.

i just returned it and will probably invest in a wii soon.

^ you might want to check the wiring of your outlet. i'm no electrical engineer, but the chances of 3 brand new 360's doa seem very slim to me, unless you're feeding it shitty power.

Wow. Did they mark the used one as an open item and sell it at reduced price or did they try to pass it off as new?

xBox 360's are VERY sensitive to power quality. My first one was plugged into a surge protector and died during a thunderstorm. Sent the surge protector to the company to be tested and found that it functioned normally, but surge protectors do nothing to power quality (i.e. AC frequency and continuity of power).

My recommendation since then is to plug it into a power conditioner (you can get one for like $100) or a UPS. These come with connected equipment warranties like surge protectors do, but they cover failure in the event of disruption of power quality.

If 3 xboxes failed plugged into the same outlet, you should verify that the voltage is within about 5V of 115V and within about 0.5 Hz of 60 Hz at all times.

I've since found a couple other people who have run into the same issues.
