I'm not defending Hillary or anything, but what do people actually mean when they say "flip flop?" As people change and go through new experiences, they will often change their views and opinions of things accordingly. Now seeing as politicians are more or less human, is it not possible for them to lean one way on an issue, then later in life decide that they instead want to lean the other way? Or is this simply a matter of telling one crowd that you're against something (to get their vote) and then telling the other crowd the exact opposite (again, to get their vote)? Because I don't know that I'd call that "flip flopping" so much as I would call that flat-out lying.

George Bush--hell, the Republican Party, as a whole--used to be opposed to nation building.

this whole thread is a red herringWe could only hope to have an executive modify their decisions based on the best information, instead of stubbornly clinging onto failed policy directions to save their political careers.

^ By that logic, the balance should have tipped in favor of supporting the war in Afghanistan--and Hillary should have voted to continue that support.

It's not like Hillary is the only flip flopper out there.Perhaps her main opponent on the other side McCain:Romney has been pro abortion & anti abortion, and he has been pro gay rights/domestic partnership benefits & against them."He has been criticized by many in the right wing, particularly Paul Weyrich, as being a "flip flopper" on this and other issues."-wiki
