^?I'm going to be relocating soon. Looking for 2 bedrooms, town home style is preferred but not essential, $600-800 rage.We did some driving around the other day, and we're leaning towards Highland Oaks behind the medical park across from the Macaroni Grill on Hanes Mall. All the other places we saw were ghetto as hell.

when my parents moved to winston-salem my dad's company put him in a corporate at one of the Crowne apartment complexes, it had a gate and was nice 4 years ago...not sure how it is now, but you might want to check into thosehttp://www.crownepartners.com/communities/northcarolina/park/index.htmthey have 3 different communities in winston-salem

If you're looking for an apartment complex, then your best options are going to be either in the area around Hanes Mall or maybe near Wake's undergrad campus. Over in the West End or Ardmore areas, you can find houses that have been renovated and split into apartments.Depends on what you're looking for. I'm not really sure about townhouses here.

I lived at The Trails at Bethabara apartments. Jogging trail behind the complex, quiet, some with fireplaces, brick construction between apartments, about 12 minutes to downtown or hanes mall.

I am stayin in ardmore this summer for co-op. There are a lot of decently nice houses around here for rent cheap.

Get a house downtown near stratford / silas creek area (near forsyth medical)way more fun than anywhere near wake forest.

have you considered buying anything. for that amount of rent you could own a townhome in the area.[Edited on May 29, 2007 at 8:34 AM. Reason : own not home]

Yeah, my buddy lives in Crowne Club, it's a nice basic apt community with a gate, and is convenient to alot of stuff in Winston.

6/4/2007 8:20:59 AM
there are some nice townhomes on griffith (off hanes mall blvd.). i forget the name but they're nice and some private owners are renting, although the company is selling them.i second briarleigh.also, check out the hillcrest area. you'd have to deal with construction for a couple months, but that old golf course is blowing up into townhomes, apartments, and single family homes. they look pretty awesome. off stratford.

winston-salem makes me sadi'd live in west end or ardmore if i absolutely had to live there again

I don't get what everyone hates so much, unless you haven't been there in a few years. Check out the downtown arts district, 4th st, and ardmore. It's a great city. Certainly better than raleigh - not as much to do, but the traffic/population vs. entertainment tradeoff is worth it
6/7/2007 1:10:06 AM
it's a good city, but better then raleigh naw
6/7/2007 1:15:46 AM
winston > raleighthose new apartments on 4th street are really niceand anything in ardmore is awesome

I was born in Winston. Grew up in Mt Airy. Winston was always the big the city to go to when we had to do some shopping being that it was only about 35 mins away. It had the mixed appeal of being a bigger city vs having a little bit of a gray/trafficy feel. After having lived in Raleigh, spending a lot of time in Charlotte, and vacationing in other bigger cities… Winston has lost some of its big city appeal that it had when I was a kid in Mayberry. There are a few parts I like, but not a place I’d really want to live.http://www.aptbook.com/http://www.apartmentratings.com/http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/NC-Winston-Salem.htmlThose are a few sites I've used to browse apartments in NC before.

If you can afford it check out Nissen Apartments at Fourth and Cherry. Otherwise I'd look to rent a house in Ardmore or West End.
6/7/2007 11:33:40 AM
^Yeah, the new high-rise apartments downtown are awesome.
6/7/2007 12:50:41 PM
Nissen, as in Nissen fundoplication for gastroesophageal reflux?
6/7/2007 6:16:50 PM
^as in, NO
6/7/2007 7:49:12 PM
Definitely the West End. You can get really nice apartments that are relatively cheap. And there's shops and restaurants within walking distance.
6/7/2007 8:04:08 PM
Winston's actually a pretty nice place. As mentioned, the art shops and bars on Trade street are cool, and their downtown revitalization is really working; I grew up 30 minutes away, and the difference between now and then is amazing. Also, it's not Fayettenam.I definitely wouldn't say it's better than Raleigh, though.
6/7/2007 9:29:06 PM
^no, i was thinking of the nissen apartments mentioned abovethat place is baller
