i had a file that i was able to find in 2 differen torrent files. so i started both and later stopped the 1 wiht the slower transfer. they both had the exact same names , so i clicked delete torrent+data , and the otehr torrent gave an eroor message. the file was about 5gb total and about 40% complete odd thing is i still have a folder that's close to 2 gigs . i tried to force a re check but it's blanked out. an di've started the torrent over . what's goin on ? do i sitll have the files or what ?

dude i cant even comprehend what you are trying to ask but if its "can i resume my download since i got 40 percent" the answer is yestorrent files are like 30kbfind that file and reclick it

i found the torrent again and it started all over again. the files are goin in the same folder which is now 2.95gb but the transfer is sitting at 6%.

hmmmm thats wierd...if its 2.95gb you'd think it'd be more than 6 percent of 5gb...thats like 60 percent

yea i'm not sure wtf is goin on it even says it in the bottom screen of utorrent over 2 gbs dled but only 6% complete.

How much does it say is wasted data?(Under the transfer heading in the lower right on the general tab when you highlight a torrent)

When you begin a download, there will be temp file(s) that add up to the total download size. If you want to download an 8gig torrent, it will consume 8gigs of your space, no matter what % is complete.

ok that clears things up a bit. i have anotehr quesion now though. say i there are 2 torents with the same name and content but they come as 2 seperate dls in utorrent , shouldn't all the files all go to a comon location and increase the speed of the dl?
6/5/2007 4:09:33 PM
there is a bar at the top where you choose the file to download the file to. if you are downloading to separate files with the same exact name it might choose your alternate folder to put one of the downloads in

huh?!maybe my quesiton wasn't clear say my download folder is just c:\ . i want a file let's say "tww" but there's 2 torrent/tracker files i can dl . tww #1 and #2 are both the exact same file with the same parts , but appear as 2 sperate dls in utorrent. my question is will u torrent recognize they are the same and take say portion 1 from tww1 and portion 7 from tww2 until the entire tww file is complete thefore increasing myoverall dl speed?ORR will it dl tww1 and tww2 and contansly overwrite files creating an unusable file until both tww1 and tww 2 are 100%?

anybody?
6/6/2007 1:40:43 PM
i dont think it will see them as the same file.

It's possible but I don't know if utorrent includes that functionality. If the file piece size is different in the 2 torrents it is impossible to conclusively determine whether they are the same file or not. If the pieces are the same in the 2 torrents, then every hash will be the same.If you have DHT enabled and it's on a public tracker, then it's likely there are others who got the same torrent elsewhere from a different tracker using DHT, which will allow you to find more peers than your tracker may identify.
