I listen to WUNC's Back Porch Music every weekend but never really keep up with any of the artists. So, does anyone have any bluegrass, alt-country, folk, etc. suggestions?

The Mountain Goats and Murder by Death definitely don't fit here. But I'm already a fan of the Mountain Goats and a huge fan of Murder by Death so good suggestions anyway. Thanks guys, keep 'em coming.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but some of my favorite MerleFest artists include people like The Duhks and The Kruger Brothers. Also, I discovered The Red Stick Ramblers this year and they were really good.

Avett Brothers, but I assume you've heard of them.

Yeah, I like the Avett Brothers already. Thanks for the suggestions though, anymore?

The Broken West are a band that I like a lot that have some definite alt-country influence. A lot of their stuff sounds like late 60's pop, and a lot of George Harrison solo influence as well. Their song "Down in the Valley" is one of those with a definite alt-country feel.check 'em outhttp://www.myspace.com/thebrokenwest
