of course there are ... guess that was obviousLooking for people who run websites that have a ranking (PageRank) of 3 or higher.Find out here: ( http://www.manageyourlinks.com/tools/page_rank_checker.php )I currently make $360 per month selling links via http://www.sell-links.com and just wanted to see if any of you are interested in making money by placing some text links somewhere on your site where no one really looks... They don't really hurt you to have them there, as you can put them at the bottom of the page, or anywhere really. If you have any questions about it, let me know. Its nice to have some guaranteed money coming in, even from sites that dont really have any traffic. This especially applies if you run a student group with ncsu.edu in the name, or have a really old webpage. One text link on a PR6 .edu domain can be sold for $500 per year.http://www.sell-links.com uses an automated system to allow you to sell your links by adding some code to the site, and then people can buy them at their own leisure, and you wont have to change the page at all once youve added the code. Also, they only charge a small percentage commission to manage it, where other sites charge at least 50% commission on the sales.[Edited on May 23, 2007 at 8:15 AM. Reason : .]

You can check your PageRank by using this here tool: http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.htmlWhen you search for something on Google, all the results will have extra information under them. Pretty nice. When you say you make $360 a month selling links via that site, is that because you own it?Also, good job on the domain name, I bet it cost a pretty penny but it's probably worth it.[Edited on May 23, 2007 at 1:52 PM. Reason : I need a good domain name like that ]

0 is the worst, 10 is the best ( but likely impossible)PR is a ranking that google gives your site based on age, links pointing to your site, and thats basically it. However, the links part of that algorithm is highly debated in terms of what makes a link a good link.I link from a High PR site influences your site to have a higher ranking as well. Its basically a whole industry started by google that probably wont last forever, but it allows me to make some extra cash now, so I take advantage of it.^ I make the $360 (and growing) by links that I have sold, not solely through the site sell-links.comThat money is not referring to moneys made from sell-links, but rather just from the links I have sold on my own sites.

It's a shame PageRank isn't even remotely tied to popularity or traffic.

Thats sort of the point of this site... avoiding the sandbox while still selling links.I made it because I was losing out on that extra 50% when selling my own links, so I had to create a system that would allow me to sell them, but have many different options on the types of links I would sell. So, with this system so far there are 3 options ... blocks of links, like you see many other places, but also short paragraphs with links in them, and then articles with links in them.Generally, unless you have big blocks of link that are unrelated to your site, you wont have problems with having your site pushed down in rankings. The only punishment google would give your site would be that it would devalue your links if they notice you linking to spam sites, or obviously selling links. With this in mind, the punishment would not hurt you as a seller, but would make the purchases worthless for those that bought. Its a subject of great debate right now, but ultimately, google will never punish those that receive links and it will not punish sites for linking to other sites... but rather just devalue links. Doing more than than would open up big holes for sites to hurt their competitors by buying spam links, and it would also stop websites from linking to each other in general, which is what google bases its rankings on... so those things wont happen. And yes sell-links.com is my site, and does have a less than cool design. I actually outsourced most of the work for very cheap, just to get a POC together. I would be interested in having a partner who is good at design and understands enough php to be able to help maintain the site from the basic functionality that has already been put together. If anyone is interested, by all means let me know, because I dont really see myself partnering with an outsourcer, but I like partnering in general when its with someone whos strengths compliment my own(which obviously isnt design, but rather entrepreneurial drive and technical aptitude)[Edited on May 23, 2007 at 10:02 PM. ^^ It won't get you banned, there are many sites out there doing things like this. I met the guy who runs Blogsvertise, and there are plenty of sites that got links from it that are doing fine as wine.
5/24/2007 9:07:52 AM
When you say it will get you banned, you speak from obvious ignorance.I have been putting sold links on my sites for over a year now, and have had ZERO problems. The ONLY thing that has ever put me in the sandbox was when I did a total layout design, switching from table based to css based. That put me out of google search results for a month.Next time some of you haters start talking, please refrain from spouting out garbage that isnt worth a damn. I dont mind having a good debate about it, but at least debate about something that you know about either from experience, or from a reliable source.^^^ I have the site setup where you can approve of links before they go live, therefore, you get to control who you link to. I will also manage all links, given certain requirements that you set in place for the types of sites you link to. On the to do list is to add an option for sellers to require a page that you are linking to to be in a certain category, a certain PR( will check for fakePR ), and a certain amount of backlinks(calculated via Yahoo because its more accurate).Anyone else have any other checks you would like to see from a sellers standpoint?I would buy an add, but Its pretty worthless. Ive bought plenty of advertising from tww over the past few years, but the point of this isnt really to tell the world about sell-links.com, but rather to discuss exactly what we are doing now... making money via selling links, and what I can do to make the site more comprehensive in terms of features. Its the obvious progression that all threads of this kind make, so I feel no shame in starting the thread.[Edited on May 24, 2007 at 10:11 AM.
