My girlfriend's Acer Aspire 5000's power jack is broken. It looks perfectly normal, but it just doesn't work. How can i fix it?

Aficionado is correct.
When I worked in computer repair, we had people come in all the time with this exact problem. We never fixed it--just wasn't worth the time.
