I've lost one in accident on I-40. The plastic cover (I'm not sure about the right name, I just call it bumper) was hit by someone's broken tire badly and then it's just fell off . So, I'm looking for another one. Any ideas where I can find it? On ebay it's about $100-120. But it will take couple of weeks for shipping and the price is a little bit high. And BTW, what should I do in a such situation? I was in a harry, going to airport, so I didn't call the police, insurance company... just had no time for that. And as far as I know, my insurance will cover the damage of someone's car, involved in accident, but not mine. Is it correct? What will you do in that situation? Can you tell me locations of junkyards in the Raleigh-Durham region? I found one on I-70. But not sure if they have Mitsubishi mirage car over there. So, do you know other places?Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest just scrapping the car in a destruction derby contest... but that's just me.

If you didn't get a police report the insurance may not pay for either car. Not to mention the other guy can now fuck you in the ass royally without much trouble. That was a very dumb decision.

The amount of insurance coverage that you have depends entirely on what you signed up for. You need to read your policy or call your insurance agent to find out.I wouldn't file a claim over a $120 part though. That's probably less than your deductable.Search http://www.car-part.com for a bumper.

certifit has the 97-02 models for about 35-50 bucks for the bumper alonecertifit.com go to online catalog, the little red durham pin on the map, then pg 164 on the adobe pdf that pops up. Then you can get whatever you need, brackets, etc.[Edited on May 22, 2007 at 5:42 PM. Reason : whoops]

^WOW!!!!!!!Man! That's GREEEEEAAAAAT!!!!!!! THANKS A LOT!!!! I will go there tomorrow.About this accident - there was no second car involved. Peace of tire was just lying on the road. Car, that was going before me just avoid the hit, but I didn't see this tire coming, that's why that accident happened. That tire was really heavy. Seams like it came from a truck. I cleaned the road after the accident, to prevent others get in a such situation. But still there were a lot small tire peaces all over the road.[Sorry for my English. Trying to improve it.]Once again, THANKS!!!!!!! That was a great help.

It was just laying on the road. So, it seams like there was no "official" accident. At least, I have nobody to blame, except imaginary truck driver, who've lost his tire and didn't clean the road after that.

R U FROM ROSSIA

Yep, I'm from Russia. ... Well, actually, I was born in Russia and lived there for first 13 years of my life. And then move to Belarus - another republic from ex-soviet union. Why you asking?I'm still interested in my accident. I mean what should I do if that happened again. I'm going to that shop today and I have to use I-40 again. But this time I don't have my bumper, so, I afraid to lose something more important, like radiator, fan or etc. And one more question. Just imagine that you had an accident. Two drivers involved. You've got a ticket, cause police officer decided that it was your fault. But you've got the insurance information of the other driver. And you can claim the damage. So, my question is: what should you do first, second and so on. Should you call your own insurance company? Should you repair your car for your own money? This question probably will be answered when you call to the insurance company of the other driver. But anyway, I just want to know more details about that. If somebody had an experience of repairing car for money from insurance company - it would be great if you share the information with me.Thanks.
