Ok, so I was playing basketball 1 week ago, and as I was on defense, the guy with the ball was coming at me and stopped right in front of me, but his knee came forward as he lunged, and it rammed right into my right thigh/quads.It felt like a really bad charley horse when it happened, but over the past week, the residual pain has been growing. Now, when I stand up, or sit down, or change positions when I am sleeping, I get this really sharp pain down my leg, and it hurts from my right hip down just below my right knee ...From what I have been able to find, it sounds like a quadraceps contusion (intramuscular) because I have zero bruising from the injury. Has anyone ever done this before, and what was your experience with the pain/recovery.I am wondering if I should go to the doctor to get it checked out, but I just dont want to waste the time if its not needed.

yeah sounds like a deep bruise. those are the worst. If you touch the top of where it hurts it shouldn't hurt but if you push down it should hurt like hell. Happens a lot in martial art matches. If it hurts to walk at all, go to the doctor. Sometimes it can be a hairline fracture that got worse and sometimes they can get infected and that's pretty serious but generally it hurts like hell to walk on something like that.

yeah, IB is not helping at allmaybe ill try excedrin ...Going to a sports doctor tomorrow just to make sure...I have good insurance, so its really just a few bucks and a few hours of time, but since its getting worse, i figure I might as well get it checked out... especially cause my knee is hurting more.
