pour oil through the oil cap and see if it drains through.

dont know much bout bikes...drop the oil pan see whats goin on there

remove the right hand side cover....bottom bolts first, oil should spill out. You have to remove this to clean the screen anyway.

^im not too sure what you are trying to say, but this is how i did it earlier.removed the drain plug, which is on the right side of the bike, a tiny amount of oil dripped out, then i removed the oil cap, and nothing happened. then i pour in more oil to see if it'll go through and it didnt.

this is the cover- http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/showschematic.asp?dept_id=377062you need to disconnect the clutch cable and remove the right footpeg/bracket.I forgot the plug is on the side..sry[Edited on May 17, 2007 at 3:39 PM. Reason : btw: what year is it? I'm assuming it's a 250, not a 450]
5/17/2007 3:31:34 PM
yeah its a 250, and yes the drain plug is on the bottom
5/17/2007 3:34:10 PM
damn all that to change the oil? that doesnt seem right. the rebel manual just says to remove the drain plug and the oil should come out. im thinking there is a clog or something
5/17/2007 3:43:17 PM
yeah, that's all you need to do, but if you have a clog, you have to take it apart more...it has a screen instead of an oil filter, and to get to the screen you need to take the case cover off. Not that you need to clean the screen, but the oil will def come out if there is any when you take that cover off.

there is no reason this would not drain oil out of it if the plug is coming out and (not broke off) or there is no oil in it
5/17/2007 10:19:00 PM
i dont understand it either, im gonna try poking it w/ something tomorrow
