5/16/2007 12:50:54 AM
the fucking disco era is the most prolific and meaningful era?seriously, just GTFO
5/16/2007 12:50:58 AM
there's a lot of good rock in that era
5/16/2007 12:52:07 AM
^
5/16/2007 12:54:31 AM
yes there is - but there is a hell of a lot more good and a hell of a lot less disco in the 60's
5/16/2007 12:55:16 AM
Rock and roll was not fully fleshed out by 1969. Hence I contend the era prescribed in the thread title.
5/16/2007 12:56:43 AM
there are plenty of good bands during that period but saying it was the most meaningful era in all of music is a bit of a stretch
5/16/2007 1:11:13 AM
i'm going to leave out zeppelin and pink floyd, although i love them both, every faggot college kid on this planet knows how good they are, and why spend time on the ledzep/floyd circle jerk once again...so... here are my picksspringsteen - born to runkiss - alive IIstevie wonder - songs in the key of lifeframpton comes alivefleetwood mac - rumorsvan halen - van halenmarvin gaye - what's goin oncurtis mayfield - superflystones - exile on main st.

No matter which decade you single out people will find a reason to point out how it wasn't the most meaningful era. You'd have been better off just asking what the best album from that decade was, then we would have all been spared the dozen or so "nuh-uh" posts.

Wyloch is right. What most people consider to be 60's music really came out in the early 70s...The great classic rock bands in history made there mark between 68 - 75...Dylan, Zep, Doors, The Who, the Stones, Marley, etc...early 70's...

Technically, London Calling was released in the US in 1980
5/16/2007 1:07:19 PM
ummm. it was a 70s album. it was made and released in the 70s. just because it wasn't exported until the 80s doesn't mean anything.
5/16/2007 1:09:31 PM
5/16/2007 1:11:12 PM
Its just interesting to point out that it was released at the very end of the decade, and not in the US until the following decade. Its much more 80s in style and lyrics, even their music videos. Influential album for sure, but if there were an album to represent "70s rock", I personally dont think this one comes close.Anyways, how come no one has mentioned these:ACDC - Highway to Hell, Back in BlackGeorge Thorogood & The Destroyers - George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Move it on OverJimmy Buffet - Changes in Latitudes, Changes in AttitudesQueen - A night at the opera

There's no way that LZ III is better than Fun House.I remember reading old issues of RS after the Roadrunner single was released, and one of them said that The Modern Lovers was going to change the world.*sigh*(I actually prefer the versions that are on The Berserkley Years.)
5/16/2007 5:30:27 PM
does Everything count? it was released in 1995, but all the material was recorded in the mid-70s.

^ There's a worthwhile track or two on that, but if we're going to lay out ridiculous noise suggestions, at least go with something like Branca that has a little footing to argue from.
