HD craped out on me the other week (blinking folder of death). So in lieu of spending $300 to get this fixed and have no assurance on the life of the computer afterwards I got a new laptop. If anyone wants to buy this ibook for memory (1GB), replacement battery/backup, airport wireless card, charger, software (install disks), and other random parts for repairs I'll let the the whole deal go for $50 obo. The charger alone cost me more than that new two months ago but I know how TWW works. It's a good deal if you want parts. But again the HD is not functional, I already ran Disk Warrior on it, the thing will not mount seems like a common problem for that year iBook. It's two years old. I'll close bidding thursday unless there is a lot of bidding still going on.

PM bid of $50. I will end this COB today if I don't see any other intrest in this thread. BTT, remider you may be able to run this computer with an externaly mounted HD but for my mobility purposes I have not tried this and opted for a new working laptop with a internal HD. For those that have dealt with mac laptops you know how hard it is to access anything when doing repairs.

All that is wrong is the hard drive? What speed processor is it and how large is the screen?

800MHz 12" G4 iBook with a gig of memory. The logic board was giving me trouble about half a year ago but that is fixed, all that is wrong is the HD is kaputz. It's a 30GB HD. The computer itself starts up, but the HD does not mount. You can buy a used one online with same specs for $500.It's been taken apart for previous reparis and has normal wear scratches.[Edited on May 15, 2007 at 12:11 PM. Again upon more research there are some who have run their Mac OS on and external, presumably due to the similar internal HD failure. But as I said before due to requiring mobility in my laptop this was never an option for me. But seeing as how everything else boots up and runs, this could be a good way to cheaply run a mac.
