got a 57 in a 35 tonight....can anyone help me out? if not....i should use my prayer for judgement?...i will have to pay $160 no matter what...but with the pfj thing i have to take a driving class but i get no point on my license..that is sounding like a good idea...one of my friends also said to take it to the clerks office and they will drop it at least 10 more miles. does anyone know how this works?

yeah this is a ticket they won't drop to nine over. So you have to should get a lawyer in this case and/or be ready to use your pjc.22 over they dont like very much mang

plead not guilty and fight it. You will have to show up to court several times and you will definitely lose in district court if the cop shows up. You don't need a lawyer for any of this. In district court, do not take the stand and do not testify, you will still be able to act as your own lawyer. You could ask the cop questions but don't bother, it will make you look bad. If the judge asks you if you want to say anything, say: "no, your honor". If you feel pressured or if it's too awkward, you might want to say "It is the states burden to prove it's case against me and I have chosen not to testify." Again, don't testify. You are guilty and you pled not guilty. If you do, you will be forced to either perjure yourself or win their case for them. There is a small chance the DA or the cop will make some error and the judge will throw out the case to teach them a lesson. After you lose, ask the judge to allow you to appeal your case to superior court. (within 10 days) A stupid speeding ticket, even 22 over will NEVER go to trial in Superior Court because they're too busy. After about a year of continuances, they will drop your case. It's alot of effort but if you're driving habits are bad you need fight hard to not let your tickets stack up against you.

knowing the system is how people get out of things. How much are points on your license and $$ and having to go to a class worth? Next time... dont' drive 60 in a 35.
5/11/2007 7:44:38 AM
yea what kind of fucking retard pulls 22 over in a 35? You deserve the fucking ticket.I'd be of a totally different opinion of 22 over on a highway, where you aren't potentially gong to run someone over or hit someone at an intersection.

we can guide a cruise missle through a fucking window and kill people in Baghdad from the Pentagon (land on the moon), jazz, orchestrate the fall of the soviets but you think we can't control traffic without fucking people with tickets, court dates, and jail? Don't forget who you're talking to. The speeder is your fellow human being. Are you a fascist? Ok then, he's your fellow American. Wake the fuck up.[Edited on May 11, 2007 at 8:19 AM. There's an awful lot of roads around my apt (outside Baltimore, not Raleigh) where going 35 would be downright stupid. I can easily go 60 and not risk life or limb because there are never pedestrians and the view is all the way down the road.Wake the fuck up?
5/11/2007 8:20:15 AM
at least you didnt get a ticket for going 121 in a 70be happy ....and also get a lawyer
5/11/2007 8:23:20 AM
there are some 4-6 lane roads in Charlotte with 35 mph speed limits... now imho thats dumb as crap.
5/11/2007 11:01:33 AM
18 f. you should have cried or flirted your way out of it.
5/11/2007 11:35:18 AM
I'll gladly call in a favor for some random girl on a message board that I've never met.
5/11/2007 11:43:43 AM
yall leave her alone, she made a mistake and came looking for help. half of you have had far worse speeding tickets, so you can't say shit. so help, or stfu.
5/11/2007 11:46:46 AM
hands down, get a lawyer. it won't be cheap, but you should come out clean without using your pjc. you will also save alot of money on what's probably already sky high insurance from your age.[Edited on May 11, 2007 at 11:49 AM. Reason : .]
5/11/2007 11:47:49 AM
i got a 22 over in charlotte and the DA dropped it to 9 over, from 67 in a 45, to 54 in a 45. no points on license, no insurance hike.
5/11/2007 11:52:13 AM
^wrong, you still got a license point.
5/11/2007 12:14:48 PM
if i use my prayer for judgment does that not automatically get me out of trouble...the cop reduced it to 55 in a 35...so i know it is a lot and 20 over and i should be in jail and be car should be impounded..but the way he explained it to me i just use that and don't get in trouble, any points on my license (unless i get in trouble again and then get them both back) as long as i take the wreckless driving class?and ya'll know you all speed too so stop giving me shit. i am knew to this whole getting in trouble thing and i wrote in the lounge so people would give me help not shit bc this is not chit chat.
5/11/2007 1:22:29 PM
oh and i now see this is in the garage not lounge so strike the previous comment
5/11/2007 1:26:51 PM
Caroline you dingaling. No, seriously...if there's any way you can swing an attorney, it'll probably be worth it in the long run. Don't use your final lifeline if you ain't gotta!
5/11/2007 1:31:13 PM
how much is this going to cost me? i start working 45 hours a week next week so i can pay for it but damn it. the first thing i was gonna buy was a radar detector lol. and yea from what i hear i shouldnt use my prayer for judgement bc if me, matt, josh, or the parentals mess up in the next 3 years...which knowing us is very likely. it will be back. UGH why am i so dumb
5/11/2007 1:33:44 PM
Because you are Matt's sister.
5/11/2007 1:34:26 PM
thank you dan, can you please come to charlotte and cheer me up?
5/11/2007 1:39:42 PM
the 35 mph zones are more difficult to have tickets reduced in. mainly because they assume its a highly populated area and you were in fact endangering someone. That being said i got out of a 57 in a 35 in a school zone (speed limit is usually 55) but i also got pulled accelerating out of the school zone by a dick cop at 3:12 (ends at 3:15) and he still wrote me the ticket.Recap 22 over just barely in school zone in both time and place ( i don't think i was in the zone in place though he just assumed i'd maintained 57 through it as he hit me with the gun just after coming over a hill which the school zone starts 1/2 way down.
5/11/2007 1:40:07 PM
damn i missed this one, get a lawyer, it will set you back about $300, plus about $200 in ticket and court costsShoulda just shown him your bewbs and gotten off without a ticket to start with. [Edited on May 11, 2007 at 4:12 PM. Reason : ^ my sister got a 32 in a 25 school zone and the judge ripped her a new one for it]
5/11/2007 4:11:17 PM
definitely save your pjc, no need to waste it on a first offense or something this "minor". in the whole scheme of traffic violations, 20 over isn't THAT bad.the cost of a lawyer might be a pretty big hit up front, but it'll definitely pay off in the long run with insurance, etc. since you and matt are both still considered underage/high risk drivers (sounds like you're on the same policy).[Edited on May 11, 2007 at 4:57 PM.
