check to see if they're registered at theknot.com - if so, all of their registries may be linked.

otherwise, check the stores listed above

isnt that the point of registering? .....to let people know what you want?

Yeah, but people would prefer cash. It's just tacky to ask for it.

we registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, and Home Depot

but we're house hunting and plan on buying a house this fall (after the wedding) so we don't really have a lot on our registries.. I've already furnished the house I rent and we have everything we need. I put a new set of dishes, towels, glasses, china settings, and some nicer appliances on there but it's hard to pick out other stuff when we don't know what the new house will need or what will match...
Plus we're taking out a loan to help pay for the wedding so $ would help us out by paying it off quicker.. and $ towards the down payment on the house.

Perhaps our situation is unique.. but a lot of my friends who have gotten married said they ended up with tons of "stuff" and really wish people had given gifts of $ or gift cards.
Especially those who took out loans to pay for the wedding.

Shrug. I always give $ plus something small.

Eh. If I wanted to give cash I would just stick to a check and cut out the middleman.

not me. we registered for nice things that we probably wouldnt want to spend the extra cash on if we had the option....but since someone else would buy it for us, we figured, hey, why not?

We both have good jobs and we already have a house, so I'd prefer to get nice things to put in the house.

wow, what a great way to start off a marriage. if you can't afford a big wedding maybe you shouldnt have one.

yea but it's easier to ask by including the website on the registry list - guest goes there and reads the blurb stating how glad we are that they can share our special day.. etc.. that we're house hunting and searching for a home to start our family and if they'd like to help us out then they can make a contribution.. deposits into my checking account.

nicer than including "cash" on registry list

plus less checks to deposit.

i am amazed that you took out a loan for a wedding and then posted about it that has to be one of the worst financial decisions

a lot of my close friends have asked what i really wanted or if just something on the registry was fine - i told most of them cash or gift cards are better but we want everything on the registry so it'd be fine - i spent hours building our registries and i'll be damned if ppl don't use them - the only thing i don't like are the people that buy something they think we'll want/like and ignore the registry

taking a loan out to pay for your wedding is worse than leasing a car!
