TSN "expert" Tom Dienhart ranked the coaches in the BCS conferences. I don't know what this is based off of, but I figured I'd post the list and you all decide for yourself. Our Tom O'Brien is #13.

4. Grobe12. Meyer39. Bielema41. Miles[fail]
5/8/2007 12:39:27 PM
^^ no no, don't cry. like this grobe did a great job last year, but i am not buying him as a top 5 coach until he does more than lose one orange bowl.[Edited on May 8, 2007 at 12:41 PM. Reason : if you wanna crown him, then crown his ass.]
5/8/2007 12:39:28 PM
RICH RODRIGUEZ 3FRANK BEAMER 6NOW THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!
5/8/2007 12:58:32 PM
5/8/2007 1:14:18 PM
tommy tubs should be top 10 and joepa needs to be top 10 as well as bobby bowdenbad list
5/8/2007 1:16:35 PM
yeah, as much as i want to consider this list legit, i have immediate problems with tom being ahead of Bobby
5/8/2007 2:13:55 PM
I think Grobe could be a top 5 coach eventually, but he hasn't proven anything more than he is a 1 year wonder. It's amazing this guy doesn't have Greg Schiano in the top 10.
5/8/2007 2:33:32 PM
yeah, you can't completely buy into grobe and put him #4 and then blow off schiano at #33.
5/8/2007 2:50:11 PM
how is Dennis Erickson #9, that guy is a no-talent ass clown.
5/8/2007 3:18:32 PM
^Maybe a national championship helped his ranking. Just maybe.
5/8/2007 3:22:11 PM
5/8/2007 3:22:27 PM
38. Dan Hawkins, Colorado not bad for coming off a 2-10 season
5/8/2007 3:29:14 PM
5/8/2007 3:34:05 PM
Where in the hell is Boise State's coach Peterson????He just went 13-0 and beat Oklahoma in their bowl.
5/8/2007 3:39:12 PM
^not in a BCS conference.
5/8/2007 3:40:43 PM
5/8/2007 3:49:12 PM
Bowden is not what he once was.....and I think its a list of the who's currently (supposedly) the best.
5/8/2007 4:07:50 PM
^ Erickson went 5-6, 8-5, and 4-8 his last three years of coaching college ball.
5/8/2007 4:12:32 PM
just another reason not to put weight in these sportswriter time/space fillers.
5/8/2007 4:36:19 PM
I just hate him for what he did in San Francisco.
5/8/2007 4:47:40 PM
so if this is a current list, why is urban meyer not in the top 3? I get carroll and tressel being ahead of him but not #3?! He just won the championship.
5/8/2007 5:02:41 PM
roof over shannon?? Stoops over Meyer?? Another head scratcher...
5/9/2007 8:51:02 AM
6-5, 7-6, 5-7, 4-7, 4-7, 11-3 and a 37-35 overall record is what Tom Dienhart thinks constitutes the #4 overall coach, Jim Grobe. Dont get me wrong I think Jim Grobe is a decent coach but c'mon one good season and he is #4...does that mean that Chuck would have been in the top 10 after the gator bowl year??? Urban Meyer and Nick Saban have NC's and they are below him..[Edited on May 9, 2007 at 12:35 PM. Reason : ]
5/9/2007 12:34:49 PM
Chuck has never won the conference, or placed second, or third. so no.
5/9/2007 12:37:23 PM
Yeah if the 2006/2007 football season hadnt happened, you wouldnt see Grobe in the top 100.
5/9/2007 12:39:00 PM
If you've seen Wake play before this year, you would have him in the top 50.He takes absolute shit for talent and comes away with middle of the pack ACC finishes every year. For comparison, Chuck took good talent and came away with middle of the pack ACC finishes every year.As far as X's and O's go, Grobe is a top 20 coach in the nation.
5/9/2007 1:32:52 PM
I agree, only idiots say Grobe isn't a good coach. He takes shitty talent, can't get good recruiting for the school WAKE and takes who he gets from all the leftovers and does well each year. Period.
5/12/2007 8:30:10 PM
was this determined by a random number generator or something?pure trash
5/12/2007 8:43:43 PM
Les Miles is 41st?Did he forget about LSU or something?
5/13/2007 12:30:42 PM
yeah, not sure what this list is based on... if its X's and O's then they have Fulmer about right, maybe even too high haha, but if its overall coaching (recruiting being a biggie) then he should be a lot higher

http://www.newsobserver.com/122/story/573719.htmlgood interview with TOB
5/13/2007 1:02:59 PM
well atleast he got the top 2 right...i woulda followed those with urban meyer, bob stoops, and rich rodriguez to round out my top five. saban will probably be in there after shortly, but its tough to put him in the top 5 without having coached a college team since '05.[Edited on May 13, 2007 at 3:22 PM. Reason : 5]
