Like some of you, I visit Pack Pride for information and some discussion. It keeps us hardcore fans up to date on Wolfpack athletics and recruiting fairly well. Like some of you though I get annoyed with some of the stupidity that goes on over there. There seems to be an abundance of idiots over there complaining about stupid things, being overly critical of a situation, or just can't take a joke. The intention of this thread is to rant about some of the idiots over there.Take the RBC gets upgrade money thread. We have the nicest arena in the ACC, and there are idiots over there criticizing it. Most schools out there would die to have such an arena. They complain about it not being on the main campus, but close to 60,000 people don't have a problem getting to that same area come football season. Why is there a problem for 19,722 people in showing up for a game. I can somewhat understand 7 pm weekday games, but there are empty seats there for games that are on the weekend. The semingly annual Thursday night primetime football game always seemed to be sold out though. They want it on the academic campus, but then complain about how they had to wait for 30 minutes before they could get out after a game, and use that to justify them leaving early from games. Do they know what kind of traffic nightmare it would be if there were 19,000 people trying to get to a 7:00 pm ACC weeknight game? Traffic is already terrible on campus from around 4-7. Another complaint is that it doesn't tie into the football stadium architectually. It's a seperate venue that isn't just used by NCSU. We don't have to be like UVA and put gay pergolas around everything. One poster even suggested that we paint red and black stripes around the top of it. The green windows (similar to Jordan Hall's windows) were another complaint by some of them. Some want red windows. I have never seen a building with red windows. Grey windows might not look too bad, but to me the RBC Center looks great, green windows and all.Now some Tarholes are getting in on the discussion and arguing about how their tax money pays went into the construction of the RBC Center, even though the Dean Dome is a financial black hole, that is has hardly any parking, and terrible accessibility. It does well as a basketball arena, but that's about it. The RBC Center brings in a ton of money to the area. It does a multitude of things very well. It can be a great place to take in a concert, rodeo, banquet, monster truck show, NHL draft, wrestling event, Jeopardy, a number of other things, being in Progress Energy commercials , as well as the occasional hockey and basketball games. The $80 million 20 year naming rights deal with RBC Centura more than took care of the $18 million from a Wake County hotel tax used in the construction of the RBC Center.[/rant]

hopefully this thread will be a safe haven for us to come back and make light of stupidity that continues to go on over there.

The RBC is more of an arena for the city of Raleigh than it is our basketball arena.
4/27/2007 9:38:40 PM
who the fuck cares?
4/27/2007 9:41:03 PM
I know right?
4/27/2007 9:43:16 PM
the real problem w/ packpride is that they're a bunch of old men who want their forums to be completely dead until gravis posts so they can eat up the very vague and relatively rare comments that he leaves.and then when you bring something up for argument's sake, all anyone says is whether gravis said you were right or wrong.that's what annoys me about pp.. i still pay for the premium though

I'll be honest, I think putting some red on the outside would be a good idea. It's the primary color of both of the main tenants of the RBC center. It's not a major issue, and I won't be crushed if it didn't happen, but why not?

You should read the Avent Gets Extension thread. Some were criticizing Coach Avent, and the Pack then goes out tonight and beats a UNC team ranked #6 in the Baseball America Top 25 and #4 in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper top 30. They destroyed them 11-1!

dallas poulk had a great catch in the 3rd (i believe) to save 2 runs and end the inning. a sliding catch on a foul ball and 4/4, good night for him.[Edited on April 27, 2007 at 10:49 PM. Reason : typo]

The ESA is one of the nicest venues in college basketball...hell, it compares pretty well with the NBA arenas I've been in. The fact that it's off-campus means there's tons of parking (and I never had any trouble getting there when I was in school).

i work at RBC and i think its an awesome place. i also think its kind of cool that we share it with the hurricanes. i was reading the thread over at PP the other night and all i saw was bitch bitch bitch. we have one of the nicest facilities in the conference but who cares, i mean the seats are the wrong shade of red!
4/27/2007 11:16:36 PM
i'm w/ you, except that i don't like at all that we share it w/ the hurricanes.
4/27/2007 11:23:55 PM
i just think its cool because i am a big hockey fan and most of the hurricanes players support the pack and i think a lot of that is because we share the RBC center!
4/27/2007 11:29:12 PM
i don't care much for hockey, and i don't like it b/c it's so effing hard to see our banners in there with all the shit the hurricanes put up.

Brass, I post on Rivals and PackPride and I have to agree with you completely. A lot of the guys over there never even went to NCSU, can't spell (don't post if you can't spell), and some haven't even seen the campus or been to a game.[Edited on April 28, 2007 at 1:23 PM. Reason : .]

last i checked, you could watch the mls on espn. it's not mls' fault no one in america likes soccer. even with such mediocre fan support they're building soccer only stadiums.the goddamn pengins almost had to leave pittsburgh b/c they couldn't find money for a new arena.oh, and there's always the fact that the nhl used to have fans, but completely fucked it up.no sir, the mls is run better than the nhl.
4/28/2007 11:12:28 PM
FayettevilleWuf is one of the only cool people on there. Most of them just bitch how unfair it is to be NC State and suck each others' dicks about how they're great fans.

The football stadium needs clear red material to be able to go over the lights in the stadium at night. This would allow for nothing but red to be everywhere while we are getting pumped up for the game. During the teams entrance, during halftime, after the win. Hell, if its quick enough, during the opposing teams timeout near the end of the game where it matters.
4/29/2007 9:38:15 AM
i hope you are kidding.
