This probably won't get a lot of replies, but with all of Aristotle's garbage threads being made, I don't feel so bad for making this thread.

This is only the softball program's 4th year, and the girls are looking to be back to back ACC champs. After winning 15 straight, they're back in the top 25. They just swept UNC, and in the past 6 games they've outscored their opponents 25-0. Pitcher Abbie Sims was named ACC player of the week for the second straight week.

One more series @Maryland, followed by a break, then the ACC tournament will be May 10-13

In short: way to go girls, and now back to back ACC champs, k?

Yeah, Sims will be POY and they're going to repeat. I don't see them losing the ACCs again this year.

^^^ it's a 64 team field for softball. There are 16 regionals with 4 teams in a double elimination bracket. With those 16 teams, they pair off and there are 8 best-of-3 series, which determines the 8 for the WCWS. Then it's double elimination until there are 2 teams left, and those 2 teams play in a best-of-3 for the champoinship

would guess we're not hosting because we don't have a facility. the sport doesn't generate rnough revenue to find cause to host it elsewhere in raleigh ... similar to what baseball did in wilson a few years back.
sucks to play South Carolina in the opener, but it's double elimination, so hopefully it'll work itself out. State is the only seeded team playing a host in its opening game, and one of eight not hosting.
oh well, whatever ... hopefully they'll do well.

^exactly, it all has to do with facilities. Softball is not exactly a big sport at alot of schools. Most schools don't have fields, much less, stadiums that can host.

oh by the way we won in the first elimination game, then lost to south carolina for the 2nd time in our second elimination game...too bad we didn't have a stadium yet so south carolina got to host as the 4th seed and we played them twice...

anyways, good season for them, but they should have gone further in the postseason
