This will be the hardest class I will ever take here at NC State as a bio major, but the time has comeIm registered for the summer session because i've "heard" that it's somewhat easier than the full semester class (less material is covered due to time constraint)True or False?Fuck the summer and do it during a normal semester?

Its not bad in the summer if its your only class. Plus, Knopp is teaching it

yeah Knop....good things?

I was a TA for Knopp for 2 semesters (including a summer session), the grade distribution is the same as a normal semester. Its a lot of work, just stay on top of things. Most of the class did fine (including 5 or so A+ grades in my problem session)

I took it in the summer and got an A+ with Sylvia. Notes: You will need to be able to still draw all the structures. You will need to do all assignments that everyone does over the school year. I had a part time job and my life went like this.MW- study session, class, work, library, bedTTHF- work, class (test and class), work, library, bedSat- library bedSun, library, bed I worked about 25 hours a week and had I worked anymore I would not have had the time to dedicate to this. You will not have a life. I mean I think I went out to dinner one day and it was divine. I studies and memorized structures about 6 hours a day outside of class. I am thinking about 38% of the class failed. Be serious...It isn't hard. Just memorization.

didnt take it over the summer but you shouldnt have to spend 24 hours a day anyway working on this class unless you're really just not good at memorizing stuff. You can get away with learning some processes and figuring stuff out based on the general process to some degree in this class, and you need to take advantage when you get those chances cause it leaves more time to memorize the bullshit. There is way too much stuff to memorize though so you have to do your work every day and study what you learned in class every day...I'm just not in the camp that thinks this class requires every hour of your life if you pay attention in class and do your work on time. Also..reading before the lecture helps if you actually pay attention in class. I only did this a few times during that semester but it really helped the times I did it.

I skipped class and recitation....my grades went up.Having a bunch of seniors in biochemistry try to teach you BCH451 is retarded and serves no purpose other than to pad their resumes.

I took it over the summer with Knopp and made an A+. I just went to class everyday, attended all the study sessions and attended the review sessions the TAs would have in the library. During the summer campus is quiet and the library is empty so it is much easier to study, having a job would be tough, but not impossible. Take Knopp's suggestions about the dry erase boards and note cards to memorize structures (also the long tables in the library double as dry erase boards) and things like the Krebb's cycle, glycolysis, etc. He gives a lot of extra credit if you just go to class.

I took it during the regular semester, but if I could of taken it over the summer, I would of. I would rather have a few weeks of hell than a full semester....

I took BCH over the summer with Knopp and it was the first class I ever took at NC State. I made an A because I had a friend who had taken it the summer before and I had all the Knopp's notes and old exams. If you can find someone with the old tests, you are good to go. I already gave mine away to someone who is taking it this summer. When you start class, just ask around and found out if anyone has the old tests and study with them. You'll do fine.
