If you like professors giving you a written set of expectations for your final project, do not take Dr. Tavakoli's classes. I am in STS 484 right now and his indecisiveness is driving me crazy. Beware and steer clear of Tavakoli!

Extremely disorganized in what he wants from you. That much is true. He is really relaxed, but doesn't ever stress what you need to have done for him, until about a week before it is due.

if you ask him about it, his reason will be simple. He isnt looking usually for one specific thing and accepts a lot of various assignments, reports, papers, as long as it has to do with something about the given topic. Essentially there is no right or wrong intrepretation on his assignments as long as it is reasonable.

i spent a few nights hanging out at his house my freshman year. My roommate had him for a class and they got along real well so he used to chill with him. I always got along with him, thought he was a real nice guy.

haha. he came into IDS 201 one day last semester and looked like he was toasted. He was trying to take the roll and one of the students asked him if he was drunk. He claimed he had been up all night grading papers or something.

Well, I'm definitely not slack-assing, I'm worked my ass off on the project and couldn't believe the way he significantly changed the assignment each week. I'll admit that he'd be awesome outside the classroom, but the project drove me insane because of the changes.

Dude, Tavakoli is the man!!! He might be a little indecisive at times, but asking a few simple questions about a project clears it up really easily. And he did want a technology transfer paper, not an economics paper.

Tavakoli never "changed" the assignment, at our behest, and to make the papers easier to read and to focus them, he told us we could write less. He never said you couldn't write 25 pages. He never changed the outline he wanted us to write in, only gave us more detail every week. I didn't have any problem with Tavakoli's teaching style. It's a little unorganized, but it makes the class interesting.

anyway, as everyone has said, he's a great teacher, and he is the man.
