i'm finding outlook is a quirky program every day i use it. winmail.dat is such a big annoyance that it might just drive me away from outlook.

i looked into thunderbird since 2.0 came out today but found some things i didn't like or need help tweaking before i can move--

1) font sizes - can i write messages at 10pt font size for fuck's sake? html size 2 is just too big (i think it's 12pt) and size 1 is too fucking tiny (8pt).

2) forwarded messages subject lines - who the fuck adds brackets around forwarded message subject lines? any way to change a setting and just get it to use the standard FW: format?

3) importing address book entries - i have 305 entries in outlook but only 230-some get imported to thunderbird for some odd reason. any ideas? i can't find a pattern here.

i love the speed and responsiveness of the program - hope that doesn't change once i import all my messages in from outlook.

3) i fixed this using csv manual export/import and some tedious concatenation in excel and what-not

i don't use all the pretty fonts and colors and stuff but i just don't like the wrapping limitations of plain text emails.

yeah i'm a picky e-mailer.

if your email client is worth two cents it should know which to pick

This isn't a great workaround for the font problem, but you can create a template that has a style tag with font-size: 10pt; in the beginning, then use this ExternalTemplateLoader extension (https://nic-nac-project.de/~kaosmos/templateloader-en.html) to automatically load the template. Nowhere near as easy as Outlook, but your demand for exactly 10pt font in an html email isn't too popular I think.

alright i solved #1 using the quicktext extension for my signatures and used some HTML to set the font style properly

this forward subject line thing is still hideous
