About 2 days ago, I noticed that my screen would be filled with a random assortment of small vertical dashes (I could see things on the screen, but it's like there is a filter over it). If I minimize the window, a lot of it goes away however some of it is still on the desktop, pressing 'show desktop' clears some of it too. The cursor also shows a fuzzy box around it.... Whats the deal?I haven't installed any new software, and after I noticed it, I upgraded my video drivers with no changes. I have a 9600XT 256 mb AGP card.Bob[Edited on April 16, 2007 at 8:57 AM. 1. Try another monitor.2. Replace Video Card. Are you, by any chance, overclocking that little Radeon?

Feel the heat of your case. Artifacts are a common overheating sign. If it's hot, get some fans on it or remove the side of your case for now.

Opening the side of the case wont help with heat. Unless you put a box fan next to it.

card is not overclocked, the thing about heat is that it hasn't done it in the past (back when I would do heavy graphics/gaming)....the power was out for a few hours and when I rebooted it, the bios splash screen had the artifacts on it.The fan is working and doesn't seem to be putting out hot air, heck, it's pretty cool actually. Any other ideas? it's doing it even more as the computer is used.Bob
