^i saw that in the nc tax booklet... the thing is this: i made less than $5500 last year. my federal taxable income came to $0, but by the ridiculous nc "additions to taxable income" worksheet that i had to do, i have to pay tax on more money than i actually made last year. now i don't know if i'm doing something wrong, or missing something, or what, but this doesn't seem right. i got all my money back from federal, but for some reason i owe the state almost $100, even though i didn't make enough money to file in the first place? can anyone help?? thanks

well if it says you owe, but that says you dont have to file if you made less that 5500, im pretty sure Id go with the not filing option

^^^ah, yes... I had forgotten about that. I have been out of school for a while.

at least I don't owe money.... (only reason I'm getting some back is that work takes it out automatically)

If you are below the minimum filing threshold and you don't file . . . then you won't get back the money that you already paid in.[Edited on April 17, 2007 at 9:09 AM. Reason : ]
