I did a search but was surprised her DE section didn't come up. I have to do this because I'm going to fail CH-223 this semester. I took a look at a sample powerpoint online and it seems like it would guide me through quite well. I'm hoping that since I already have seen the material and studied it (my grade of "D" aside), it shouldn't be half bad...Has anyone taken CH223 online before? How'd it work out for you? Suggestions/comments/complaints?

no, but i'm registered for it next semester.

I took it for a short while a few summers ago. I dropped it because I was lazy and didn't want to take class in the summer. It had nothing to do with the course really. Sandbergs online presentations are very, very much like her actual courses. I later took a traditional section with Sandberg for 223. Very good experience, especially coming out of a bad CH 221 experience. Don't be afraid to take it DE...BUT...you HAVE to do the work, and UNDERSTAND the webassigns or you will not do well on the tests.

If you failed the class but had a passing grade in the lab do you have to re-take the lab? If so, is there a form I can fill out online?
4/15/2007 11:13:52 PM
^no, you don't have to take the lab again. they address that during the first day the class meets.

After the first few days of class, you can go to Dabney 108 and there is a sign up sheet on the counter for you to sign and get credit for the lab

I knew I wouldn't have to take the lab again, but I wonder if that means I can pay for one less credit hour?
4/16/2007 7:15:24 AM
^no, since the lab counts as 0 hours.

I'm taking it now and it's not that hard, do your homework, and study webassigns for exams and you should be fine. She gets a lot of her exam questions from webassignYou have to be fine with lots of webassigns too. You have 2 lectures a week (M,Th) always with lecture questions (about 10-20 but not too hard). And then you have homework webassigns Tues. and Fri. So basically 4 webassigns a week, but they are shorter that most organic webassigns and they are "submit new answer" not "submit whole answer"Also i think the grade distribution is about half A's and B's

i was taking the DE version this semester, but dropped it. you really have to be dedicated to it and watch the lectures. she has webassigns for the lectures which are roughly 10-15 questions, and webassigns for homework. it's a lot of work.... i thought it was tough because i need people around me to ask questions. but i guess since you've already taken the course, it won't be too hard (maybe).

Okay, so two people in here dropped it over the summer, and that's it...anyone have at least ONE good experience in the summer DE course?!
4/23/2007 6:42:49 PM
my friend and I took 223 one spring with sandberg. I passed she didnt. But she took the DE class that summer also with sandberg and did very well, got an A the second time around. So I would venture to say that as long as you are willing to watch the lectures, and youve seen the material before, you will be OK
4/23/2007 7:12:23 PM
^that's what i'm betting on.now that i've done the whole class, i know the material a lot better, and i feel, if given another chance to take the class, i could make an A in it.
