My cat got sick a week ago and had to be in the vet's office for a while. They sent her home with 4 different medications. This morning was the first time giving them to her and I gave her two of them which are liquid and she starting drooling alot. I was wondering if anyone had experience giving cats meds. I want her to consume all of the meds, not drool them out. Or will that even matter as long as some gets in her system?

I assume they gave you a syringe to squirt in to the cat's mouth...When I had to do this with my cat, the vet said to stick the syringe in to the side of the cat's mouth, and it worked. The cat seems to instinctively open it's mouth, and lap it up.

Yeah I used the syringe to squirt it in there.Maybe it was the fact I didn't put it to the side of the mouth

make sure you don't just squirt it all in their in one big pump, you have to a go a little slowly to make sure they get it all

i had to give liquid meds to my cat once, and she hated it. she would squirm so much i couldn't get the syringe in her mouth at all. so i just started squirting little bits at a time on her paws, because then she would lick it off.

I worked in a vet clinic for about 4 years, This is all i learned, give meds in one big push, try to get it in the cats throat not the mouth, it sucks but they won't taste it/freak out, also so some meds really make cats salivate, the less you get in the mouth the better

I had to give my cat meds once...basically, I gave them to her like she was a baby...with the syringe in the side of her mouth near the back of her teeth and I put it in slowly...I don't know if that's the proper way or not, but it worked.

have you tried mixing the liquid meds in or on something...like milk or tuna? a couple of my cats have been wise to me, and figured it out...while a couple others didnt notice the meds smuggled in some cream or meat. just an idea!

i did it again tonight closer to the back of the throat and she did better. I would try mixing it with food but she is barely eatting anything right now. It is very sad I figured that once she was home she would start eatting like normal but she still hasn't. I have been giving her wet and dry food but all she does is look at it

we had to do it last year. like everyone said go from the side of the mouth and make sure you get it far enough back. if you're squirting just barely inside she will definitely drool it out. make sure it's further back so she has to swallow.

My cat is the worst (Nos). She does not like being held down. The only way to do it is to come up like you're going to pet her... grab her quick... squirt it down and then give her something to wash it down. Tuna Juice, or something she likes. The cat won't like you either way.
