Since Im a big fan of the former NCCU football coach "Rod Broadway", I was curious to see who he had hired for his staff, now my question for you guys is...I was looking at the names of his assistants, and I ran across "Jay Davis"-Quarterbacks Coach..It did not have his picture posted, but it stated he went to college at NCSU....Coach Broadway is a hell of a coach, which is why he was snatched up by Eddie Robinson's old school....but can someone confirm this for me...b/c I didnt know Jay Davis was getting into coaching.........

he said that was his dream to coach

he was a grad assistant for us last season, now the qb coach at grambling state.someone posted this over on packpride, and i guess no one on tdub picked it up, or cared enough to make a topic (i didn't).but it's true.

thanks for the info man- I appreciate it..

For their sake I hope they have a fucking awesome running game

jay was better at moving our offense than Marcus/Daniel have shown to be.......he would just drive us down and then throw it to the other team.

Jay knew full well what to do, he just lacked the physical ability. I think he'll be a great coach.

jay davis the former ncsu quarterback from like 2004 is a coach now? is that what this thread is saying?i think thats pretty cool honestly...i hope he does a good job- maybe in like 20 years we will see him in the nfl

Yeah I was researching NCCU's former coach Rod Broadway, and I ran across Jay Davis as being one of his new hires.....Coach Broadway is one hell of a coach, I hope they have a good season, and I'd like to see Davis have some success(minus some of the negative things I said abut him when he was a player here at State)..

jay "shitty qb, but may turn out to be a good coach" davis, is one of the volunteers at the inaugural philip rivers' qb & wr camp.

well, he was still a d1A qb, which is certainly good enough to teach highschool kids.

Peter Laviolette is a great NHL coach. He took two non-playoff teams into the postseason and now has his name on the Stanley Cup.He played a grand total of 12 games in the NHL.A great player does not neccesarily make a great coach, and vice versa.

I think people are often better at understanding an idea than executing it. I wouldn't short change one of your alums so quickly. people don't get appointments in coaching based on incompetence, and I'd venture to say he knows what he's doing

A better job than Ryan Leaf has at this point.

I hope he does well. Seemed like a nice enough guy, but I definately think he just got in over his head playing here at state.

he was a top quarterback coming out of florida in high school. he just got nervous too much in the game and couldn't make good decisions with the ball. i would still take him over stone any day.

And Chuck wasted opportunities to develop him early on.

good luck Jay

not being able to implement a gameplan does not equal not knowing the game[Edited on April 11, 2007 at 12:29 PM. Reason : ]

Jay definitely had some nerve issues and I believe he battled a stutter/speech-impediment... will be interesting to see if it affects his ability to command respect as a coach.

The worst players tend to be the best coaches.

I love how Jay gets all the blame and like someone has said, he was actually better than the two that have replaced him so far. Also has anyone given it a thought that maybe, just maybe, it was our coaching staff that didn't help him enough?
4/11/2007 10:14:47 PM
^ well at least someone has, b/c that staff has been dismantled entirely.
