4/10/2007 2:08:18 PM
is the players union getting in some sort of line? i didn't think so. it should be "cue" particularly because cue the ______ is a commonly used phrase.

4/10/2007 2:19:45 PM
yeah, it's ok to admit you used the wrong word, you don't have to scramble to cover it up
4/10/2007 2:24:24 PM
yeah dude, you used the wrong word. we know it. you know it. let's move on
4/10/2007 2:25:01 PM
4/10/2007 2:29:52 PM
damn, this is bothering y'all huh...... but, I did not use the wrong word, sorry to disappoint. ^yeah, there is no precedent for that harsh a penalty, plus, its entirely possible that he will come away from this with no convictions.....if that's so, the PU will probably get it greatly reduced, or maybe eliminated.[Edited on April 10, 2007 at 2:33 PM. wlb420, although I'm pretty sure you meant "cue" and are now trying to claim you meant "queue" all along, I'll play along with you. No one would say "queue" the union. It'd be like saying "line the union." Either "queue up the union" or "cue the union" would make sense, but not what you said.Anyway, I don't care about Pacman, but I hate this for Chris. The kid could have been a superstar in this league. (I guess he still could). I'm not surprised by 8 games though.
4/10/2007 2:43:58 PM
i believe gene upshaw has gone on the record saying that he supports any suspension the commisioners office hands outso dont be expecting a lesser suspension
4/10/2007 2:44:12 PM
^^ Chris coulda been a superstar? He is good and all but I think pacman has a bigger potential of being the superstar. He had 4 tds last season and he plays defense
4/10/2007 2:47:12 PM
4/10/2007 2:48:24 PM
Well obviously Pacman is talented too, but I had already written him off as having screwed up his career beyond repair. Chris has probably screwed up his career beyond repair too, but I'm a Bengals fan.
4/10/2007 2:54:26 PM
so I'm curious to see if there will be some sort of blanket policy implemented now?I know there is a detrimental to the team clause used by individual teams to justify a suspension, will there now be a "conduct detrimental to the League" policy implemented......essentially that's what these suspensions are, right?[Edited on April 10, 2007 at 3:02 PM. 4/10/2007 3:14:39 PM
^but he's yet to be convicted of anything, so in the eyes of the law, he didn't do anythingdon't get me wrong I think the suspension is justified, but I could also see this getting out of control down the road.

anyone else can be fired from their job for acting like a thug on their own time
4/10/2007 3:29:30 PM
my point is that individual teams traditionally handled most of the run ins with the law. It's almost the individual teams' fault imo.....you've got teams like the titans and bengals who aren't really punishing these players for off the field problems. if the titans would've stepped up and slapped a 3 or 4 game suspension on him, the league probably wouldn't have interfered

i have no problem with thisthere needs to be a culture change
4/10/2007 5:51:17 PM
I have no problem with this ruling...but it will not stand. No way the players & the players union are going to allow this to stand. But let me reiterate-I like the ruling, there needs to be a change in how professional athletes act in public....Ex Post Facto III
